Ok I've calmed down now. Ugh.

First of all, yes, that excruciating loss is on the shoulders of one person only (Perez) though I am very sympathetic to rusty's point about Acta not acting (Unacta?) when CP shows he's not fully "on." Can't even blame this one on Hafner, who more often than not came through in his chances.

Second, this is another game that really reminds me that there are some important aspects of the game that I just don't get. Bottom of the last, you have a 3-run lead and two outs with nobody on base, facing batter #8 in the order. I don't care if he's hitting .400 for the season, or against this pitcher: Put your best pitch in the strike zone and make the batter hit his way onto base. If he hits it over the wall, fine, try again with the #9 batter.

Am I missing something here?

Oh and I really don't like the Detroit radio team.

Good Grief!

Well it's not really that bad. 8 of the runs were unearned after a Kipnis error so think of it as 2-1. McAllister's ERA stays below 5 where his starting brethren congregate. We're going to burn out the bullpen and have to rotate some guys with AAA staff just to give us some fresh arms tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. Who among the current group have options left? Tomlin I assume does. He can work four or five innings today and then get shipped out tomorrow and Herrmann or anyone on the 40-man roster can take his place
