Found some additional information on Yandy Diaz:
Cleveland Indians third base prospect Yandy Diaz has officially been promoted to the Triple-A Columbus Clippers. The 24-year-old Cuban defector has been in the Indians minor league organization since last year and he has made his way from High-A ball to one step away from the Majors in that short time.
Yandy has not been thought of as a true "prospect" since his signing (he did not make MLB Pipeline’s Top 20 list for the Tribe), but he has played well enough to be a true contender as the team's third baseman of the future. He leads the Indians farm system in hits with 150 and he is second in OBP with .412. On top of that, he plays great defense.
The season is winding down for minor league teams, with the Columbus Clippers season officially ending on September 7. However, unlike the Akron RubberDucks, the Clippers have clinched a playoff spot, and Yandy with his golden bat will be available to help them go for their first International League championship since 2011. More importantly, this promotion will give the Diaz a chance to face some better competition and give the Indians a better look at the third baseman before next season rolls around.
[ I like these Cubans. They are experienced coming from their professional league while accumulating all of that extra experience during International competitions. They don't normally spend a lot of time in the minor leagues when the come here. A little tweeking and they are, for the most part, ready for major league competition. I did not know that he was only here for one year and is almost ready for his first major league experience. ]
