Re: GameTime!™
14717not Swisher; he's not getting into action until "late in the month". He'll open up on the DL; then get some rehab; and show up in Cleveland mid-April or maybe later.
Re: GameTime!™
14718Yesterday:
CLE MAJ Lindor, Francisco SS 2 1 2 1 .417 2 2B (3)
He's having a great spring, but I suppose he'll be in Columbus for awhile, regardless.

Re: GameTime!™
14719mlb.com broadcast with I think an A's announcer, at least he's not one of ours. He likes the work Salazar does on getting the first two outs on weak pop ups; and impressed on the third hitter by Lindor's range and arm.
Re: GameTime!™
14720moss with 2nd inning lead off triple off the centerfield fence against his former team. Then Chisenhall pops to shallow center and Moss cannot score. We learn all about James Ramsay's parents [both Florida State athletes as was he] and his course of study in college, and he draws a walk. Jerry Sands playing again rather than Aguillar, why? Late on a couple pitches, fouls them off, and stinker hits into a DP and Moss doesn't score.
Re: GameTime!™
14721Ramsay drops a fly ball "not something you see a major league OF do very often" says the announcer; following a long homerun by Billy Butler. Then a walk. This time Ramsay catches a long fly and runner moves up to 3rd. One out.
Re: GameTime!™
14722I'm around for awhile early in this game again, until I have other places to go.
Nick Maronde starting and works a very efficient and effective 1st inning. 25 year old 6-3 lefty has periodic lapses of command [one lasted nearly all of last season] but has 33 major league games of experience scattered over the past 3 seasons, which net only 17 2/3 innings and feature 18 walks. Only 1 walk in 3 1/3 spring training innings.

Re: GameTime!™
14723Ramirez with the appropriate ground out to bring in Bourn from 3rd [single and 2 base error] which Chisenhall couldn't do yesterday. Mr. March Ryan Raburn hitting third today, batting .308 which for him is pretty low for the spring.
Re: GameTime!™
14724Slams a double but collapses on the way to 2nd, did he just slip and fall or hurt himself again? Apparently he's OK.
Re: GameTime!™
14725Santana with an infield single [pitcher didn't cover]. Aviles and Walters leave him there. [they are playing 3rd and 2nd respectively today]
Re: GameTime!™
14726Looked at the Santana splits for 2014.
While switching positions in April and May, he batted 159, 17 walks vs 42 strikeouts, slash line 159/233/301 6 homers
When he settled in at first in June and July, he hit 310, 30 walks vs 42 strikeouts, slash line 310/412/603 14 homers
He finished up somewhere in the middle, he hit 225, but with 40 walks, 36 strikeouts, slash line 225/359/382 7 homers
If we think it's reasonable to write off the first two months when his attention was centered on his defense, his combined rest of the year numbers are really pretty standard Santana: 266/384/488 and produce a very impressive 872 OPS

14727Doubleheader today.
McAllister and House are starting. Zach has a spring time ERA of 9 in 5 innings, with 9 hits allowed. He's not looking too sharp in the first inning with a hit and walk allowed in the first but no runs.
Vs Ariz most of the regulars are playing except Gomes who's working with House vs. the Cubs. His lineup-mates include Clint Frazier and mostly other rookies: Lindor, Aguillar, Gonzalez, Naquin.
A Team overloaded with LH hitters batting 1-2-3 5-6-7

Re: GameTime!™
14728Gomes homers off the Cubs, and House allows a homer in the bottom of the first to the second hitter, so that game is tied up
Re: GameTime!™
14729Both squads with big leads 6-0 behind McAllister and 6-1 behind House. Clint Frazier with a 3run blast.
Re: GameTime!™
14730Bauer with a much better game today. 5 innings, only one homer, in his last inning to Will Meyer.
One unearned run in the 1st; leadoff hitter safe on a error by our distinguished third baseman Chisenhall. Came around later to score.
Unfortunately Urshela has had back issues so although he's recovered OK from winter ball injury he's not playing a lot. If he were he could have a solid shot to win the 3rd base job. Lonnie probably gets it by default
