So since Tampa lost and if we hold on today, we are guaranteed a game 163: on Monday if we lose tomorrow and either Tampa and/or Texas wins; or on Wednesday hosting the wild card game if we win tomorrow and who cares what the other two do.

Hamilton outlined a possibility of us playing in 5 cities from Sunday-Friday if we lose tomorrow, win Monday, win Tuesday, win Wednesday. Never mind, I can't get it all straight. I think we might as well win tomorrow and get a couple days off.

The win gave the Indians sole possession of the first wild card spot following Tampa Bay's 7-2 loss to Toronto. It also guarantees that they can finish no worse than in a three-way tie for first in the wild-card chase with Tampa and Texas.

In that scenario, the Indians would host Tampa Bay on Monday in a tiebreaker game at Progressive Field. The Indians could claim wild card spot with a victory. If they lost that game, they'd have to play the Rangers on Tuesday at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

The Indians have already put tickets on sale for Monday's potential tiebreaker game.

The actual wild card game will be played Wednesday.

Saturday's victory gave the Indians (91-70) a one-game lead over Tampa and Texas, who are tied at 90-71. The Rangers beat the Angels on Saturday.

If the three teams are tied after Sunday, Cleveland would host Tampa Bay on Monday, with the winner advancing to the postseason. The loser would play at Texas on Tuesday for the second wild card.

In the event Sunday ends with a tie for the second wild-card berth, there would be a one-game tiebreaker Monday. Tampa Bay would host Cleveland, Texas would be home against the Rays or the Indians would host the Rangers.

The two wild cards would then meet in a postseason game Wednesday to determine which advances to the division series.

So let's see if I have this straight ... The only way the Indians don't get to the post-season is if they lose the next three games, and even then it requires "help" from Texas and Tampa Bay (they both need to win tomorrow).

Does the game between the two wild-card teams count as a 163rd season game, or as a round of playoffs? Seems to me it should be the latter ... not that it makes a HUGE difference.
