Nah, don't.
Taking baseball and life happenings too personally is not healthy.
We've won 7 in a row.
Kansas City has now won EIGHT in a row.
Don't look back.
Go figure, I now have Bob Costas "dialed" on NBC ("dialed" reference for Rusty) and Costas is zeroed in on gun carrying and Joe Paterno and Penn State.
Seven wins in a row is a nice thing, but my takeaway is that Chris Antonetti essentially feebillly (rhymes with "Hillbilly") said with his non-baseball playing prowess,
"this trading stuff is WAY too hard!!"
Guys, Shaps and Marie Antoinetti are complete dumb arses and I know all here know same, if you are really lifelong sports fans and truly have roots near Cleveland.

3726Still room for me to jump on the bandwagon?
Fun baseball no matter what happens.

3727Tribe Wins Again, and this I'll admit is rarifed air for Tribe Fans as August ensues.

I will offer up some Rod Stewart, I was guessing or joking about Eight wins in a row as August approaches is indeed rarified air for a franchise I am happy we all are happy about but think will doomed under Dolan this year, and next.
That Rod Stewart vid is a a good watch, by the way. Unless perhaps one is as old and feeble as Rusty. :->

3728Indians winning streak now almost matches the number of hairs on TFISC's head or the number of drinks he consumes before posting here.
Re: General Discussion
3729Good bench. Good manager. Good coaches. Good cheap addition of Kazmir. Who hired all them?
Re: General Discussion
3730OK.
The Tribe is playing fun ball, but the margin behind Detroit has grown 100% since the All Star Break.
Wild Card is riskier business than a Christian or Jewish wife marrying Tom Cruise.
In the category of "Read Between The Lines, Guys" this team is legitimately in a post season race with only 51 to go and Manager Terry Francona elected to sit the two guys Shaps and Marie Antoinetti have inked for $25 million for 2014....and in the case of Swisher....and beyond.
Today, Francona sat the Shaps and Marie Antoinetti chosen "corner stones" for 2014.
Swisher and Cabrera, of course.
I'm guessing Swish and Cabs were enjoying beer and maybe fried chicken in the locker room before Swisher was called on to go 0 for 1 in a pinch hitting "performance" to make the box score.
Of course Francona realized that Swisher and Cabrera and their $25 million for 2014 are now hitting a combined .245 for THIS season.
Tribe has to do it all this season, because if they don't, it looks really bleak for the Shaps and Marie Antoinetti blueprint when 2014 and the years after get here.

Re: General Discussion
3732I think aside from Francona, the vast improvement of the bench has been the key thus far, and what may carry us to the end....that and our surprise starting pitching.civ ollilavad wrote:Good bench. Good manager. Good coaches. Good cheap addition of Kazmir. Who hired all them?
That Francona had the flexibilty to rest Cabrerra and Swisher in the rubber match against the hapless Marlins to have them as close to 100% as possible for the much bigger 4 game series against Detroit is immesurable.
Not to mention if necessary he could have brought them if he needed to rotate through pitchers earlier than he did.
That kind of flexibility is golden.
Currently holding #2 spot for the Wildcard, I'd much rather pass Detroit this week and hold the lead.

Re: General Discussion
3733Tony Sipp was DFA'd yesterday. Sipp, 30, had a 3.86 ERA on the year with 10.2 K/9, 5.0 BB/9, 1.10 HR/9, and 28.1% groundball rate in 32 2/3 innings this season. Stats are better than Rpzycysnski's but if I'm reading them correctly it appears lefties may have have hit him better than RH's
Re: General Discussion
3734Sipp was actually sent to the minors. The DFA was procedural. Same thing happened to Carrasco I believe.
Re: General Discussion
3735Looking ahead at the games we have in the Division, I would make a bold prediction that if we can stay above .500 in our division games, we should be able to hold on to the wild card and possibly pass detroit if we don't do it this week.
4 of 7 from Detroit
6 of 10 from the Twins
4 of 6 from the Royals
4 of 6 from the White Sox
That's not really too much to ask considering the way the team has been playing.
Don't see it a big hurdle to break even on the west coast road trip....
I think the biggest obstacle is going to be the road trip at the end of the month with 3 in ATL then 3 in Detroit.
If we can be ahead or within 2-3 games back after that trip, I think we can pull it off.
Of course we are due a good 4-6 game losing streak, I just hope it doesn't start tonight.
