3693All those middle IFs make it more likely that we could deal Cabrera who has proven a lot more than Chisenhall, too.

3694Happy Birthday JR!

3695A belated Happy Birthday, J.R.
I was truly an arsehole when trying to gain board foothold lamenting that I bought your hamburgers, pizza, and such, live and in person, when I was pissed off at your actions of later time here.
I'll gladly buy you a hamburger next Tuesday.

3696Apology accepted, CALIFLA. I'm just trying to do my job here.
I think I might have found an explanation for your change in forum personality here the past several months:

Re: General Discussion
3697Not sure why some of you are so down on the Indians. This is a pretty nice little ball club with a solid future. Although I am convinced Masterson will be a FA after next season and he needs to be extended for big $$$. Everyday lineup is pretty set for the next couple of years especially with Lindor replacing A Cab. Go get a decent lefty and extend Smith for the pen. Hold on to Perez (can't believe I'm saying that) and let him go next off season. You just don't get anything back for expensive closers....
Man Kazmir has pitched great. For $1M with his history we should have gotten an option year. He'll be tough to resign Anyway things are a lot better than they have been....

3698This is a fun season! If you can't enjoy it, it's a pity. Who knows when it might come again?
I am all in!

3699Nolan Ryan who apparantly personally went out to get Matt Garza because the Rangers are so awesome just watched this and cried himself to sleep on his "I was a major league all star legend before I got a notional title with the Rangers" pillow.

Re: General Discussion
3700Albert Pujols - DH - Angels
Albert Pujols (foot) will likely be placed on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday.
Pujols has been dealing with plantar fasciitis for much of the season and returned to Anaheim on Saturday for an MRI. His options are likely to rest it and hope it gets better or undergo surgery, neither of which is a quick fix. It could be a lengthy stay on the DL for the 33-year-old.
For every long term contract that works out, I bet you could find 7 or 8 that didn't.
CC Sabathia will be the next big fiasco. He is already sucking this year, and with considerably less velocity than in his prime.
A-Rod...well, that's too easy.

3701Phillies don't seem to be thrilled with the 75 million they owe Cliff Lee over the next 3 years.

I have to wonder about the contract the Bosox just gave Pedroia.

Re: General Discussion
3705Nice Tribe weekend.
Really, of course.
But…..the math has only gotten WORSE for a 2013 Tribe Post Season since the All Star Break…..
One impediment to consummating a trade is that because of the extra wild-card team in each league, more clubs feel they have a chance to qualify for the postseason. Consequently, they aren’t willing to part with their players.
“That definitely has had an impact, at least in our view,” Antonetti said. “There are 24 or 25 teams that want to hold onto their players.”
That leaves only four or five clubs that are willing to deal. That might not be enough.

The above is from an article I read this weekend, linked above, while away with my children and grand kids who know the names of all their biological fathers who still live in legal marriage under the same roof as their mothers and fathers.....all college educated.........unlike the WAY more than 47% in the diseased City of Cleveland who cannot say anywhere near the same.
Guys, (and Gals), Antonetti said there are only four or five teams willing to trade?
That is proof pudding that Antonetti and the guy who hired him as his Boy Toy (Mark Shapiro) are complete dolts, know nothing about baseball, and would be extremely bad poker players.
Come on now, all with brains and paying attention should know that Cleveland is THE ONLY place either one of them could get a baseball job and they have failed and failed and failed and are still being paid.
Last I checked there are a myriad of teams logically out of the playoffs who with good poker would be willing to deal….if Shaponetti could play poker or know baseball.
For you Cleveland dummies, I’ll suggest that “a myriad” begins with most teams at .500 or below as August 1 approaches.
That would be 15 teams tonight with a glance at the standings, and it was I believe MORE when Shapsanotti gave the dumb arse quote about his personal small and revealing view of his baseball knowledge and prowess.
Shaps and his Boy Toy think they can only possibly deal with four or five teams?
Pussies, and bad poker players.
On the positive and uplifting, Shaps and his Boy Toy Antonetti still have time to “right the ship” AND put “the pedal to the metal” to run for The Prize in this 2013.
They have a few days to unload the $25 million they have inked to Cabrera and Swisher next season, and the possible $62 million committed to Swisher going forward over “the next four years.”
Shaps and Antonetti could unload both those guys….THEY signed…..and still go balls to the wall to win this year.
THAT would be a GOOD story.
Otherwise we will be stuck with the “wah, wah, wah” defense how handicapped Shapiro was after giving Hafner the big unsuccessful contract he claimed as an insurmountable financial challenge for his “success” while Hafner was still here.
He claimed it to Cleveland media pro’s, who reported it mostly hook, line, and sinker.
Super nice weekend, but we are not catching Detroit, or making the Wild Card.
Do the math.
(I know the darkness of the night, how to enjoy it, and how to consistently get 3 to 5 digit wins playing blackjack against a one or two card deck……..and I firmly belive ALL OF YOU here know more JACK about baseball than Shaps and his Boy Toy Antonetti)
