Check my math, but I think Detroit can get to 85 wins by going a tick over .500 the rest of the way. 43-42, as I clock it.

We need to go 46-38 the rest of the way to get to enough wins to top Detroit on the last day of the season, if they indeed go just that tick over .500.

This Tribe Team went 11-13 in April, and is currently 10-13 in June. Personally, I do not see any way we will catch Detroit.
You might want to update your calculations there...

We've played 82 games, one past the midpoint of the season. Instead of the "June swoon" predicted by some, we are tied for first place. This team consistently scores runs with 2 outs, and has shown the ability to come from behind late in games. We have a lot of speed on the team, a welcome change from last year. Francona seems to be more proactive, and to have a better rapport with his players than the previous manager.

Not a bad first half, I'd say.

Actually, The Cleveland Indians are a percentage tick in SECOND place as July arrives.

This is a Mark Shapiro built team, and with a nod to Frank Sinatra, "The Best is Yet to Come," Cleveland Fans have reached the pinnacle of 2013 Fandom.

Tease, tease, and all downhill from here.

I've seen it for 50+ years, and for EVERY year that Mark Shapiro has been associated with the organization. HIS failures have been among the worst.

I give Francona a lot of credit for the kind of team chemistry we see out there. Read his book, and it is not surprising. That's what he does.

He gets everyone involved! You see it in the lineups.
NOT a Tribe Fan no longer living in NC or Cal wants us all to give up hope, and not enjoy the ride.
Still waiting for an update on those stats. If Detroit goes .500 the rest of the way, what do the Indians have to do to pass them?

Hey, I get the enjoyment of the ride, and it is super great that it has lasted into the beginning of July.

Again, that is rarified air for Cleveland Indians Fandom since Carl Stokes was elected and Jim Brown soon after said like Roberto Duran a few years later, "no mas."

My voice is clear. Mark Shapiro is a loser. The City of Cleveland is a loser.

Call me out on the last day of the season of 2013 and have a barbecued crow for consumption.

Oh numbers games.....funny how they work when you conveniently leave out a whole month.

This Tribe team went 18-12 May and 15-13 in June. Another team went 14-14 in May and 14-13 in June.

One team has gone .578 for the past 2 months, another team has gone .509 (just a tic over .500) for the past 2 months.

Hmmmm......

If a team is in first place after the halfway point, 6 games over .500 and a "fan" is that pessimistic, the problem lies NOT with the team.

Sad to have that jaded a look at a sport (of all things).
