The front office drives me crazy also Tribe Fan.
They made the supreme sacrifice this year. They parted with some of that cache Dolan had stored up in his vaults. Also, a big hand to MLB for making some of this happen. It remains to be seen whether or not it was spent wisely enough. I just wish they would have parted with some of that reserve last year. No secrets that I may have tried to run in a slightly different direction. The point is, they at least tried to put a decent product on the field this year. It may still be if the pitching shows up again.
You have any more of those travelogue stories left ??
JoeZ, lack of appreciation for Mark Shapiro and his hiring decisions and baseball decisions over the years has been a consistent drum I have pounded for multiple seasons now.
Shapiro has not produced even a winning season in the last five, and it looks pretty solid he's going for six. Not contention, just a winning record, so it's a pretty low bar.
He's 2 for 12 in winning seasons since becoming General Manager and later inexplicably promoted to President of The Cleveland Indians.
I posted clearly last season that if Mark Shapiro was still around I was going to have a hard time following the Cleveland Indians in 2013.
I also posted over his off season moves that I believed he and Antonetti were hoping to get the results of "drawing to an inside straight" in poker.
I posted that I liked Nick Swisher, and in fact he is a distant relative of mine, but that he was at best an interchangeable part for Choo's departure.
I'm consistent, and have been for years.
I do not want to give up on Cleveland Indians Baseball, but "judging by the attendance" and the fleeing regular posters like rodents from a doomed ship.....many are.
