It really helps win games to have a real roster with batters from both sides of the plate, some with power, some with speed (we haven't seen much of the speed game yet). It's like a real baseball roster.

Last year we probably would have started 7 lefties against Sale. No one he always beatus.

When we were kids, our parents wouldn't let us skip school for the Home Opener, so my buddy and I would usually go to the first Saturday game. It was in the afternoon, but it was very cold at the old Stadium! I remember buying hot chocolate, and going through the Indians Hall of Fame in the concourse, just to warm up!

Michael Bourn gets five stitches in finger, may miss a week

Indians center fielder Michael Bourn had to get five stitches to repair a laceration on his right index finger, the Indians announced Sunday.

The club officially said Bourn's status is day to day, but MLB.com Indians beat reporter Jordan Bastian reports Bourn is out until the stitches are removed from his finger and speculates that could be five to seven days.

Bourn injured the finger on a close play at first base in the eighth inning. He ended up beating out a slow ground ball to the first baseman but slid to avoid a collision with pitcher Matt Thornton -- the only time it's acceptable to dive into first base, by the way -- and Thornton accidentally stepped on Bourn's finger. Bourn then left the game due to the laceration.

Bourn is hitting .333/.375/.600 with four doubles, a triple and two homers this season, so obviously this hurts the Indians -- who are already dealing with an injury to catcher Carlos Santana.

With Bourn out, the Indians could play Drew Stubbs in center and Nick Swisher in right field, allowing them to use either Mark Reynolds or Jason Giambi at first base.

Been to many April games. There have been April games as long as there has been baseball. Indians fans need to stop making excuses and show up or lose your team. Starting to be the Florida Marlins North.

Diving in without reading prior posts I'll admit in advance....

I just glanced at my adjacent computer screen for The Indians Game and see "The Stadium Once Known as 'The Jake'" at about 10% of capacity.

I glance at my schedule, calendar and standings and I see it's only the 8th home game of the season in Cleveland, The Tribe is within 2 of the division lead, and just one game short of .500.

And tonight, at 10% capacity, The Tribe is playing one of the MLB teams that usually is a big road draw where ever it goes.

It's gotta be said, that Mark Shapiro guy has been a helluva performer with a helluva legacy as he has been inexplicably gifted the reigns and more inexplicably held the franchise reigns for way longer than any prudent employer would have allowed him to do so.

I'll harken back to Donna's dismay under Shapiro's regime when she was miffed he had not arranged for enough free giveaways for females on the equivalent of a Ladies Day Saturday, or something close. Shapiro's record and legacy of eff ups is being reflected in current attendance.

Just a raw guess, but I have a theory that Mark Shapiro's lawyer Dad rustled up some dirt on Jimmy Haslam's family so his boy Mark could continue to "shine" in Cleveland sports "leadership." :-)
