Not sure I'm jumping up and down about the win, but I HAVE watched a whole bunch of Oakland baseball on cool California nights when it was the best TV, or a good fun and inexpensive thing to attend in real time over the last 11 years.

I learned a long time ago that when in doubt, "root, root, root for The Home Team."

That said, I will NEVER from my now Southwest Florida base EVER root for the Marlins.

Archer was not discarded like Phillips or others we can name. He was part of a pair of trades that resulted in Chris Perez coming to Cleveland. We got a quality closer with a big mouth and we gave up some talent to get him. That is not a "discard", but a trade of quality for quality.

Blue Jays' Vizquel passed Ruth on hits list

NEW YORK – Omar Vizquel has accomplished a lot in his 24-year career. Passing New York Yankees slugger Babe Ruth on baseball's hits list was a milestone he never expected to reach.
Vizquel moved ahead of Ruth with an RBI double in the eighth inning Wednesday, but a Toronto rally after Andy Pettitte was out of the game fell short, and the Blue Jays lost to New York 4-2 in the opener of a split-doubleheader.

The 45-year-old Vizquel had two hits to move into 41st place on the hits list with 2,874.

"I think when you get a hit to tie one of the best hitters in baseball, it's an amazing feeling. I mean, this guy has been a legend in the game for a long time and, to mention my name right next to his just makes me feel so little," Vizquel said. "I never thought, never, ever, in my career of baseball that's been a long one, that I was gonna come close, to even compare my hits with the Babe. It's just unbelievable. It's very emotional, especially here in New York, the house that he built."

Vizquel had his second multihit game in a row and 10th of the season, good for second best in big league history for a player 45 or older behind Julio Franco, who has 53 such games, according to information provided to the Yankees by the Elias Sports Bureau.

"When you start talking about the names that you're mentioning, this is an outstanding career and he's finishing up on a strong note," Blue Jays manager John Farrell said.

Omar has rung up some nice "all time" stats.

I sure hope he makes Cooperstown. A visit to Cooperstown is one of the very few things in life I've wanted to do that I have not checked off.

If Omar is inducted, I'll do my very best to be there.

Hindsight on that post is that I will still need to be around in 2020, or so.

In the Giants game a few minutes ago two attractive girls, at least one apparently pregnant, helped up a sign when Pablo Sandoval came to bat.

"Hit a Home Run and we will name our baby after you!", or something close.

Pablo homered off the right field foul pole.

Duane Kuiper deadpanned, "I think there might be fine print on that sign somewhere.....like 'just kidding'.

The Reds played their "B" team today and still won. Could this be magic?

As predicted, Dunn gets 40+ homers and is still working on 100 rbi's sitting on 94 with his 4 tonight. His .338 obp is the lowest in his 12 year career (.371) though.
