Ironically, Hunter is called out on the play by another ump.

The play would have never happened if Choo and Kipnis would have successfully executed the relay to keep Hunter at 3rd where he should have been.

Oddly it works in our favor and it is still just 7-0.

Edit, neither our SS or 2nd baseman were covering 2nd to take the Choo relay.

The ESPN running box score is apparently in error?

Choo is showing with an "assist" on the throw to the missing relay man and dribble to Hannahan at 3rd who threw to the plate to "get" Hunter as the ump was spiked and went down and out a bit South of Beverly Hills.

I guess maybe a throw and dribble to the 3rd baseman was a good strategy by Choo, Kipnis, Lillibridge and Hannahan.

No need to, play should have been at the plate. I don't know why Choo threw to 2nd.
You're likely right. I just have the Angels broadcast on the iPhone. I'll offer a theory that Choo thought he had a better chance of getting an out on the not speedy Morales possibly on an over run of 2nd, and combining that with the thought Hunter might not be aggressive in going first to home in a 7-0 game.

Regardless, Kipnis and Lillibridge were apparently picking dandelions on the play, because neither was involved as runners approached and went by them.
