Lowe is playing the "crafty veteran" role nicely.

Jack Hannahan continues to be My Man.

Tonight's gametime experience for me was a blast from the distant (pre-internet) past.

I was driving from Breaux Bridge, Louisiana to Lake City, Florida today. A surprising nearly 600 miles. The sun went down a little east of Pensacola and I recalled that 1100AM could oft be listened to in the Southeast. I had the game, with a mostly clear signal, from the 5th inning to the final call of "ball game" in the Boston 9th.

Vinnie Pestano gets the honorary Harry Houdini Award this evening. Supreme kudos to him for gutting it out successfully to the tune of no runs when he was clearly out of sorts on the Fenway mound in the 8th.

Winning when not on your game is a sign of being a winner.

:-)

And Hagadone once more took care of businesss nicely, and succinctly.

I do have a beef with The Tribe's lead radio announcer though. I was toggling back and forth from The Tribe game when we were not batting sometimes to the great Country radio stations in South Alabama, Southwest Georgia, and the Panhandle of Florida.

I came back in and listened to about 11 pitches over seemingly several minutes without an announcer reference to which player or what team was batting or pitching. Just generic stuff about balls and strikes and chatter. I had no idea if we were at bat, or in the field. It was at the beginning of Pestano's inning as I recall.

What is the term used for a baseball player that walks, singles, doubles, triples, and homers in one game ????
“Every day is a new opportunity. You can build on yesterday's success or put its failures behind and start over again. That's the way life is, with a new game every day, and that's the way baseball is.”

A Pedicycle or a Supercycle!

A Supercycle can also be a game where the batter has at least four hits,
including at least one home run, two hits that are either home runs or triples, and three hits that are either home runs, doubles or triples.

A Supercyle would of course be weighted more heavily than a Cycle. The term came about when a batter had a double, triple, and a homer. His fourth hit was an easy double, possibly a triple but stopped at first to claim a "cycle".

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Game wasn't worth any posts except for the attempt for a late rally. Tribe managed to leave 14 on base. Johnny Damon is good for leadership but not quite getting the job done at the top of the order, hitting 171 plus 1 walk. Brantley has been inspired hitter since dropped down in the order; does that mean he hits better when he's batting 7th or that he's earned his way back to leadoff?

The way Damon fidgets in the box, it's no wonder he can't hit.
Any time the ball is hit in Damon's direction in LF it's an extra base for whoever is on the base-paths as well.

Tomlin does go on the 15 day DL with a wrist injury. McAllister up today and makes the start.

Also Jason Donald to Columbus and Jose Lopez back up. I suppose because Lopez is hitting about 600 but he also has already made 2 errors in his brief stay in AAA. To make room for him on the 40-man roster Nick Weglarz is dropped. Which honor Nick has certainly earned.

Who will now back up Asdrubal? I guess he has guaranteed the team he will be willing and able to play 9 innings a game every game or at least the next couple weeks.
