I agree with a fair amount of Frank's optimism but temper it in these regards:

Starting pitching is not quite "outstanding" but we do slot in 4 or 5 very solid pitchers. Bullpen is deep and we have plenty of replacements on deck. I'm not at all sold on McAllister as a "depth" starter, although Gomez looks promising. But the minor league cupboard is quite bare after those two; a few maybes and a lot of unlikelies until we get down to our lowest levels.

I like the infield but not the OF. Sizemore is probably done. Choo better be signed. Brantley has a good chance to be a success, but unclear. There is no one behind them in AAA, AA, or Kinston.

Bad news for the Clippers who are in the IL playoffs. Lost their best power bat. They'll probably lose another top of the rotation starter when Gomez or McAllister replaces Tomlin. And perhaps Judy, Hagadone, Lee from the bullpen. Easier to win the IL playoffs, and last year the AAA "world series" (1 game event) when the big league club is far out of contention.

Yup alls good still no power in a lot of residential areas but every thing is open. We had minimal damage over all. Coulda been much worse if it would have stayed a CAT III.

At least I can follow the game on my phone

They sure dont make hurricanes like they used to. Didnt even lose power on this one. I guess the people up here in CT couldnt handle a real one. What would they have done with a Cat III? Stupid thing is that first day of school cancelled tomorrow. Last year they had to have an extra week of school because of all the silly snow days. We are getting there already.

I started to send my old buddy Rusty some well wishes but then I remembered he is far too ornery to have trouble. One of these days when a nuclear disaster destroys the earth I guarantee you Rusty, Keith Richards, and some coackroaches will still be around to replenish the population. I just don't know who will start loving on the cockroaches first. .... If Cali is still around I'd put 10 bucks on him.

LOL!

I want to print and frame that quote and put it on the wall of my horse racing shrine.....but my wife wants to sell this place and move East. At least a little. I've been busy "staging" this place for the preferred sales receipts.

Maybe I'll print and frame it for our next place.

On a gambling note, I just missed a huge score in The Pacific Classic at Del Mar by about 10 lengths. :-)

I had some exotic wagers that came close, but I did nail the winner very solidly.

Ken...you got lucky I'm glad you didn't get hit too bad in your area. But there's 7.4 million people who still don't have power and are flooded and have significant home and property damage who would disagree with you.

Only 1 new injury today. Things are looking up.

CLEVELAND -- Infielder Jason Donald has been scratched from the Cleveland Indians' lineup because of a bruised right index finger.

Donald was listed as the second baseman, batting ninth, in manager Manny Acta's original lineup Monday night for the start of a four-game series with the Oakland Athletics. It was not disclosed how Donald got hurt.

Rookie Cord Phelps replaced Donald, whose playing time had increased since rookie second baseman Jason Kipnis went on the disabled list Aug. 19 with a strained right hamstring.

Donald opened the season on the DL with a broken left hand after being hit by a pitch in spring training. He was activated and sent to Triple-A Columbus, where he hit .310 in 47 games. Since being recalled on July 31, Donald has hit .283 in 16 games.

Phelps on the other hand hasn't looked any better this time in Cleveland than did after his initial promotion. 0-9 on his return, still not pretty on the double play.
