The ump is down on his face after a throw to the plate nails him....
Hannahan nailed him on the eye with the ball that was missed on the relay causing a throw to the plate.

Yep, on the replay you are correct.
Sub ump warming up.

Replay shows we got a break on the call. Hunter should have been safe at home, after Choo threw to NOBODY at second base...

Ironically, Hunter is called out on the play by another ump.
The play would have never happened if Choo and Kipnis would have successfully executed the relay to keep Hunter at 3rd where he should have been.
Oddly it works in our favor and it is still just 7-0.
Edit, neither our SS or 2nd baseman were covering 2nd to take the Choo relay.

Fausto Hernandez works a scoreless 5th and we are still in it at 7-0 as the 6th comes around.

The ESPN running box score is apparently in error?
Choo is showing with an "assist" on the throw to the missing relay man and dribble to Hannahan at 3rd who threw to the plate to "get" Hunter as the ump was spiked and went down and out a bit South of Beverly Hills.
I guess maybe a throw and dribble to the 3rd baseman was a good strategy by Choo, Kipnis, Lillibridge and Hannahan.

No need to, play should have been at the plate. I don't know why Choo threw to 2nd.

You're likely right. I just have the Angels broadcast on the iPhone. I'll offer a theory that Choo thought he had a better chance of getting an out on the not speedy Morales possibly on an over run of 2nd, and combining that with the thought Hunter might not be aggressive in going first to home in a 7-0 game.
Regardless, Kipnis and Lillibridge were apparently picking dandelions on the play, because neither was involved as runners approached and went by them.

He's an alum of San Francisco State where my lovely wife received her undergrad and Masters degrees. Imagine what the chances are.
Probably as likely as a kitten getting very far up in a tree.

To this day, if I intend to type "Johnny," it often first hits the screen as "Jhonny."

The one run we got was equalled in the bottom of the inning when Chris Iannetta homered.

We're only 10 1/2 out, and we are only down by 7 in the late innings in mid-August.
Time for a little optimism.
