My recollection is that quite a few of us were already disenchanted with Wedge's handling of pitchers and in general going too much by the book by the middle of his second year as manager. Note that I say "us."
I was disappointed in the hiring of Acta because I thought the front office was not trying hard enough to find a premium manager rather than just some dude that was still breathing and who would not cause general shaking of heads (not that Bobby V. would necessarily have been a better choice).
I was encouraged by an early-season squeeze play in 2011--not something I ever could have expected from Wedge. But I don't think Acta is anything special as a (field general) manager. And maybe it doesn't really matter much after all.

Boston ran Francona out of town for "lack of institutional control" and the guys with the pitchforks and torches are coming for Valentine.
These guys are hired to be fired and when the day comes they laugh all the way to the bank.

Joe, I got no explaining to do you. I don't give a shit about what crybaby Perez says. The team has quit on no Acta. If you can't see it I am not surprised.
As has been chronicled often enough during that 11 game losing streak, there had been a strange sequence of events that took place. In my opinion, the events had no bearing on the suggestion that the team quit on their manager.
I'll determine whether or not that accusation becomes true or false after the next 8 weeks are in the books.
The problems arose due to breakdowns and failures to execute. Quite a difference between failures to execute and quitting on their manager.
The team did put forth a nice effort to break the streak. Let's see what happens the rest of the season before declaring that the team is one filled with a bunch of losers and quitters.

Hmmm that sounds vaguely like a Harry Doyle quote.

Ha ha, a Jason Donald leadoff HR. I invite his critics to put a lid on it for the remainder of the game.

We come back from a 3-1 deficit to take 4-3 lead, a 3-spot fifth. Well! I'm not seeing any quit in these guys but I can see a lineup that does not exactly strike any fears into the opposing pitchers.
