Boy they really are busy with the promotions, really much more aggressive than most years.
As for Bradley we had hoped he'd be all year in Columbus, but he sure wasn't ready in April.
As for Scott he joins Sandlin as a bullpenner in a hurry. Sometimes the super rapid pace works out [Cody Allen], sometimes not so [Kyle Crockett]
As for Oviedo, it's been very unusual in recent years to see a teen age pitcher in full season ball. I guess that's where the infamous gang of 4 [Denham, Martin, Dittler, Foley] spent all of their 19-year-old season but those careers didn't quite work out.

[looked up the fab four history and it was way back in 2002}!

Jake Paulson has been placed on 7 day DL with a blister. So DeMasi, who was just promoted to Columbus, was sent back down temporarily.

So many moves today I'm confused. It'll take a week or so of looking at boxscores to get used to everything.

Bradley 0-4 with 2 K in his AAA debut.

Vasquez has been pitching so well but totally blew up tonight. 7 earned in 6 IP.

Freeman with 2 more hits tonight, including double. I think that is 15 game streak now.

AZL 1 got rained out. AZL 2 is still early but Naylor has already homered and Rocchio is already 2-2 with a double.

Rocchio ended up 3-5 with that double.

Naylor 2-4 with his homer.

And Delgado added 3 hits too.

.

Hhere is a promotion I missed last night. From Indians Pro ...

Congrats to Indians 2018 18th Round Pick RHP prospect Shane McCarthy on his promotion to Mahoning Valley! McCarthy was off to a tremendous start in the Arizona Rookie League.

Louis Head was cut from ClipShow

Damn, I was hoping for an all body parts lineup with Head and Hand

Hillbilly wrote:Another thing screwing Yandy is the lack of every day OF'ers in 2 of the 3 OF spots. We have to keep extra OF'ers on the roster to platoon in two spots. And of course Tito loves having a large bullpen. So we can only afford Gonzalez as a do it all utility guy.

If we had a few good regular OF'ers we could afford to have Yandy on roster as a second back up IF'er to platoon at DH as you mentioned and spell Jose once in a while at 3rd.
So true - and the outfielder would have to be a RH so that he wouldn't sit vs lefties. Adam Jones would have been a good fit.

As for the bullpen - in today's game all teams have extra bullpen guys. Doubt that can change. I have heard the commissioner talk about having a minimum number of guys faced for a reliever so that guys aren't brought in one at a time for each batter. That would help that issue.

Our 2018 draft class continues to excel. Lots of guys on their second or third teams already. One of the highlighted players in BA's prospect report today is:

Noah Naylor, C, Indians. Naylor was viewed as one of the most advanced high school hitters in the 2018 draft class. He's living up to the scouting report so far. Naylor went 2-for-4 with a home run (his second) and a stolen base (his fourth) yesterday. He's hitting .333/.418/.474.

CLE AA Ice, Logan C 0 0 0 0 .250 BB (5)
CLE AA Krieger, Tyler LF 4 0 1 0 .268
CLE AA Mathias, Mark 2B 3 0 0 0 .218
CLE AAA Allen, Greg CF 4 0 0 0 .282
CLE AAA Bradley, Bobby 1B 4 0 0 0 .000
CLE AAA Chang, Yu 2B 2 0 0 0 .258 BB (37)
CLE AAA Haase, Eric PH-C 1 0 0 0 .243
CLE AAA Mercado, Oscar RF 3 0 1 0 .333 CS (1)
CLE LoA Benson, Will RF 3 0 0 0 .164 BB (66) his slash line winds up not much worse than Oscar G 164/318/343 If he could just hit some singles
CLE LoA Gonzalez, Oscar LF 4 0 2 0 .281 his line would be much impressive if he ever walked 281/301/420
CLE R Naylor, Noah C 4 1 2 2 .333 HR (2), BB (9), SB (4)
CLE SS Freeman, Tyler SS 5 2 2 0 .386 2B (17)
CLE AA Civale, Aaron 7.0 7 4 4 2 3 4.16 L (5-5) Not a great game but better than several of his recent outings.

Better report on this list; the ranking of all prospects swapped in the July deals; Mejia is rated the best of the bunch, but not far behind:

5. Oscar Mercado, OF, Indians

(Acquired in trade that sent OFs Conner Capel and Jhon Torres to Cardinals)

Mercado should help Cleveland relatively quickly as a center fielder who can slide over to a corner also if needed. He has plus speed and enough power to make pitchers pay if they make a mistake. He's got a likely role as a second-division regular/fourth outfielder on a championship-level club but with a chance to be a first division regular with further improvement. [well since we're a championship level club, I guess he's a fourth outfielder, but of course our OF is second division or third division quality]

11. Willi Castro, SS, Tigers

(Acquired in trade that sent OF Leonys Martin to the Indians)

Castro has the defensive ability to potentially be a Jose Iglesias-type all-glove, little-hit shortstop depending on how much a team emphasizes infield defense. On a team looking for more offensive punch, he should be at least a solid utilityman who can capably handle second base, shortstop and third base.

35. Conner Capel, OF, from the Indians to the Cardinals
50. Jhon Torres, OF, ditto Cardinals

58. Kyle Dowdy, RHP, to the Indians

Palacios has been placed on 7 day DL. Not sure why yet. Hope nothing too bad.

Berardi has been activated off DL to take his place.

Do you think if Hand and Head had been on the team, which one would have a leg up.

Whew, that's close. One would beat the other by a neck.

But that's OK, no sweat off their back.

Henry Martinez made his AAA debut tonight. Pitched to 1 batter and struck him out. ... Bradley was 0-4 with 3 K tonight. ... Yandy 2-3.

Dowdy made his debut for AA Akron tonight. Gave up 6 earned in 4 IP. Just send him back. ... Akron lineup looking pretty pathetic without Bradley and Castro.

Adam Scott made his Lake County debut tonight, much better results. No runs in 3 IP. ... Benson another 0'fer. Batting .162 now.

Shane McCarthy made his NYPL debut tonight and more good news, 3 shutout innings. ... Freeman must be battling the bird flu, cause he was only 1-4 tonight.

Action isn't over in Arizona but I see Rocchio & Naylor are doing things again. That team is loaded for AZL. Delgado has been killing it. Wilson hitting homers. De Oleo has cooled off recently but was killing it earlier. AZL2 catching up to AZL1. http://www.milb.com/standings/index.jsp ... 21&period=
