Roberto scheduled for 75 pitches. They don't give pitch counts on minor league gamecasts but just guessing, I'd say Hernandez is under 25 for the 2 innings he's worked.

Announcers saying that Hernandez received a standing O on his first trip to mound this year. In the meantime, the Captains cut the lead in half at 2-1. The run is unearned, but as they say, they all count. Captains have runner at third and two out. Ground out puts an end to this inning. After 2, Captains trail by 1, 2-1.

Runner advances to third on the groundout. Couple of hard hit balls both go foul down the left field line. Strikeout. Side retired. Captains still trail after 2 1/2 innings of play, 2-1.

The brass has to be happy with Hernandez tonight. Not so much that he's pitching against a single A ball club but to the fact that Roberto's control has been exceptional tonight. If tonight is any indication, Hernandez surely was not sitting on his behind during his time off.

Luigi Rodriguez with a two out ground rule double to center. Captains looking to tie. Error on the thirdbaseman. Rodriquez scores from second. Captains tie the Whitecaps at 2 runs each. All 4 runs are unearned. Miles with a runner at second, full count, and two outs, goes down on strikes. Game deadlocked at 2 after 3.

Hernandez out for his 4th inning of work. Out number 1 comes via the strikeout route. Double up the gap in right. Groundout Lindor to first. Runner advancing to third with two outs. Grounder up the middle for a basehit. Whitecaps take a 3-2 lead. 6-4 fielders choice retires the side but the Whitecaps take the 3-2 lead middle of 4.

8 ground out, 3 strikeouts, and 1 flyball out for Roberto.

Roberto's pitch count is still pretty low. His 75 pitches just may get him into the 6th inning.

I popped in to get caught up on the Indians/Tigers game before I put it on....was pretty shocked to see Roberto Hernandez was pitching against Verlander....then I reaziled Joe was posting the minor league stuff again.....

The real game is 3-1 in the 6th...McCallister doing a good job vs. Verlander despite the score. He is over 100 pitches so probably won't get out for the 7th....I fear who we put in for the 7th.

Hope we can get a couple runs to tie it or even by gosh win it.

You had me confused, JOE. It seemed like Carmona was pitching against the Tigers instead of McCallister. But in the MAJOR LEAGUE game, it's 3-1 Tigers, end of 6. Verlander is on tonight!

scratch that McCallister is in for the 7th....and has runners at the corners with 1 out....and now he goes to the showers.
