As for the signing price for our 2nd rounder Nolan Jones, BA chart shows these figures:
1. Pool Amount $1,159,200
2. Pool Limit: $1,828,900 "The amount remaining in the bonus pool for this pick."
3. Limit w/o Draft Pick Penalty: $2,203,880
Only the first 2 picks in the 2nd round have in fact signed for over $2M. Most of the picks right around ours have signed for a bit over or in most cases a bit below $1M.

Nolan Jones might overplay his hand.
He's 6'5" and plays SS. Don't think he'll be a Major League SS at 6'5".
Lindor is our SS for the foreseeable future.
Tribe doesn't need this kid.
Make him sign for your offer or let him go and get the extra pick next year.

With UC Santa Barbara eliminated from College World Series look for 4th Rnd Pick Shane Bieber & 11th Rnd Pick Andrew Calica to sign quickly.

Jones will be playing 3rd base as a pro. He [or his agent] know what bonus is available. All indications he'll sign for what the Indians are able to offer. Some draft reviews called him a great second round pick; he rated higher on BA's Top 100 than our first rounder Will Benson.
"In the summer leading up to his senior year, Jones was a wiry 6-foot-5 shortstop. Scouts watched him transform into a prospect throughout the summer. Jones made steady adjustments to his swing and caught up to quality pitching. He showed plus raw power and his arm receives above-average to plus grades from scouts. At shortstop, Jones showed smooth actions and promising glove work during the summer, but 6-foot-5 shortstops don't often stick at the position long term. Jones had not been in a weight room prior to August, and he added roughly 30 pounds of good weight. He showed exceptional power during a strong week at the WWBA tournament in Jupiter, likely cementing himself as a day one draft pick. Jones has also received some draft interest as a pitcher, though he sees himself as a position player. Jones also has a hockey playing background, and his older brother is a legitimate hockey prospect and will attend Penn State next year."

They're both signed, Civ!
I think about everybody who was expected to sign has signed now.
They took everything left over and threw it at Jones.

Well done. The picks got good reviews. Once again they're taking some risks with High School bats who take quite awhile to develop. We'll see how it goes.

and I'd just noticed today that he was the only HS pitcher we drafted this year after going heavy for them last year. We have Burgos and last year's Jonas Wyatt to wait for returns in 2017 [or 18? for Burgos]

As always all sorts of stuff available at BA. The print edition I just got lists top 200 prospects, etc. Indians lost 1st round pick to sign EE. First choice will be the 64th pick with a Pick value of $969,900 and then a Competitive Balance pick at No. 71 worth $816,500 3rd round pick is No. 102 worth $527,600
Among second round picks Indians have had were Jason Kipnis and the OF then known as Joey Belle who no one else was willing to touch. As I'm gathering this list, I am not finding much of anything that was worked out. Big money to all these guys and I don't think anyone other than Kipnis going back to has even made it to AAA.
2016 Nolan Jones
2015 Juan Hillman
2014 Grant Hockin
2013 None
2012 Mitch Brown
2011 Dillon "Take the Money and Run" Howard
2010 Levon Washington
2009 KIPNIS
2008 Trey Haley
2007 None
2006 Steven Wright [Red Sox knuckleballer]
Wes Hodges

and Josh Rodriguez
2005 Stephen Head [1B]
2004 Justin Hoyman [P]
2003 Javi Herrara [C]
2002 Brian Slocum [P] [That's the year we had 3 1st round picks including Matt Whitney and Micah Schilling who respectively broke his arm on a sprinkler head playing pickup basketball game and couldn't hit anything]
2001 Jake Dittler, one of the Fab 5 high school pitchers
2000 Brian Tallett, who had a decent career as a middle reliever for the Bluejays
and Mark Folsom OF who lasted 3 years and never got out of low A
With that dreadful track record, I give up. I noted some successes in lower rounds as I went through each draft. But based on experience whoever we draft in the 2nd round will have a very very low chance of ever playing a game for the Indians and virtually none in being any good in the majors.

Draft is June 12, if anyone cares. We'll care when the names are picked.
