The 20-year-old, the Cleveland Guardians' fifth-best prospect and brother of major leaguer Jackson Chourio, connected on a pitch from Enderson Franco with men on first and third in the bottom of the 11th inning and lined it into the right field field to allow Eduardo Torrealba to score from third for the walk off win.

It's the second walk-off this season, the first of his career in Venezuela for Jaison Chourio, who finished the day 2-for-4 with two rbi's and a strikeout.
"Thank God things worked out. I went out looking for good pitching and to help the team," the young
Chourio explained after the game in statements to the Rapaz Press Department. "I'm doing my part. No matter where they put me, you have
to be prepared for every at-bat."
It was a give and take.
The Eagles took a three-run lead in the first inning, but Magallanes pulled one back in the second with home runs by Ángel Reyes and Renato Núñez. The "Nave" took another three-run lead in the sixth, while the home team tied it in the ninth on a
sacrifice fly by Chourio and in the tenth on a flyout by José Pirela.
Silvino Bracho earned the win (1-0) by pitching two scoreless innings (the only run that reached the plate was unearned) and the loss was Enderson Franco (0-1). Ali Castillo went 3-for-5 with a run scored, Simon Muzziotti went 2-for-5 with a guillotine, and Yonathan Perlaza hit a one-run double in four at-bats and scored a run.

How Good is Munetaka Murakami?
This video discusses Munetaka Murakami's potential and compares him to other baseball players:
https://youtu.be/FN1ACMov6po
Munetaka Murakami is a highly-touted power-hitting third baseman who is expected to make the jump to MLB in 2026. His scouting report highlights elite power (70/80), strong plate discipline (60/80), and a high baseball IQ. Defensively, his skills at third base are considered adequate but potentially limiting, and he is viewed as more likely to move to first base or become a DH in MLB. While his bat is his primary asset, his strikeout rate is a concern that could increase against MLB-level pitching.
Hitting
Power: Elite raw and game power, with a career-high of 56 home runs in a single NPB season. He generates power without an exaggerated uppercut swing.
Hit Tool: A solid hit tool (55/80) with a short stroke for his size, the ability to use the opposite field, and the potential to hit for both average and power.
Plate Discipline: Strong understanding of the strike zone (60/80) and rarely expands the zone, leading to a high on-base percentage in Japan.
Defense and speed
Defense: Primarily a third baseman but considered a middling defender who will likely be better suited for first base or DH in MLB.
Arm Strength: Reliable with throws that carry well.
Speed: Not a burner but moves well enough for a corner infielder, with a reputation as a smart base runner.
Intangibles and concerns
Makeup/Intangibles: A strong leader by example with a stoic presence (70/80).
Concerns: Potential for an increased strikeout rate against MLB pitching, though his high on-base percentage in Japan suggests he can adapt.

GUARDIANS PROSPECTS
Most notably: Espino did not pitch; and Antunez remains out.
Joe Lampe (RF - Game 1/PH-backup CF - Game 2, Surprise): combined 3-3, 2 R, 1 BB, 3 SB - Lampe’s three-hit Game 1 masterpiece saw him hit two of the saguaros’ five hardest hit balls of the game (102.0 and 99.9 MPH) and the softest hit ball of the game (49.7 MPH), all for singles, as well as stealing his first two bases of the fall. A third theft followed in the nightcap after he walked as a pinch hitter. [Lampe's subbing for DeLauter in Arizona; a high draft pick who has not developed much]
Juan Benjamin (2B - Game 1, Surprise): 1-2, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 BB - While Benjamin got the Saguaro scoring underway in the twin bill’s opener with a two-out RBI single (95.1 MPH) in the bottom of the second, he also ended the frame by getting thrown out trying to stretch it into a two-bagger.
Matt Jachec (RP - Game 1, Surprise): S (1), 2 IP, 1 R (unearned), 1 BB, 2 K - Jache used both his sinker and slider to great effect on Tuesday in earning his fifth save in as many 2025 opportunities, with the faster (91.5 MPH) sinker drawing a trio of called strikes while the change of pace provided by his slider (81.8 M{H avg.) made Glendale batters look silly with three whiffs as well as another called strike. [Baseball America reports this guy is a candidate for the Roster with an improved arsenal this summer]
Gabriel Arias (SS, La Guaira): 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K - Arias’ second round-tripper of the Venezuelan campaign got the scoring started in last night’s slugfest.

GUARDIANS PROSPECTS:
Daniel Espino (SP, Surprise): 1.0 IP, H, 0 R, BB, 3 Ks, BK, Timer Violation - Espino made significant process on Wednesday and worked around some traffic by striking out the side in the first inning. A one-out single followed by a walk and balk put two in scoring position before Espino retired the next two without a ball put in play for a clean inning. Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of his appearance was the fact that he topped out at 100.2 mph and averaged 98 mph on his fastball, a pitch thrown for 11 of his 15 pitches.
Zane Morehouse (RP, Surprise): H (1), 0.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 0 Ks - Morehouse made a brief relief appearance for the Saguaros and made 13 pitches to record one out. Morehouse leaned on his cutter despite surrendering a walk before exiting the fourth.
Juan Benjamin (3B, Surprise): 1-for-3, R, 2B, SB, HBP - Benjamin reached base twice in the blowout win with a double to lead off the bottom of the eighth as the highlight. It traveled the third-longest distance of the game at 403 feet (102.9 mph exit velocity). He is 5-for-21 in seven AFL games this season with a pair of doubles and he stole his first base following a hit by pitch.
Joe Lampe (DH, Surprise): 0-for-3, BB, SB, CS - Lampe came back down to earth after a breakout performance in his last game when he drew a walk and then was 1-of-2 on stolen base attempts.
Jaison Chourio (CF, Aguilas): 1-for-6, R, HR, RBI, GIDP - Chourio served as the leadoff hitter for the Aguilas squad and deposited the first strike he saw over the center field fence to go up 1-0 before an out was recorded. That would be the only time Chourio reached base on the day and it was the first time he scored a run in his five LVBP games.
Gabriel Arias (SS, Tiburones): 2-for-3, 2 R, 2B, 3B, RBI, BB, SB - Arias did a little bit of everything with a pair of extra-base hits to go with a walk and he swiped his first base of the LVBP. Arias led off the third with a double and then followed that up with an RBI triple to tie the game at 5-5 in the fourth inning. Arias’ hot start has resulted in him being inside the top-10 with a 1.081 OPS in six games.

Guardians deny Emmanuel Clase’s request to pitch in Venezuela
Updated: Oct. 23, 2025, 5:27 p.m.|Published: Oct. 23, 2025, 4:21 p.m.
By Paul Hoynes, cleveland.com
CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Guardians have denied a request from closer Emmanuel Clase, who is being investigated by MLB for gambling, to pitch in Venezuela this winter.
This rejection follows a decision by the Dominican Republic winter league (LIDOM) not to allow Clase and Cleveland teammate Luis Ortiz to pitch in their native country. When Clase and Ortiz were put on non-disciplinary paid leave in July by MLB for gambling allegations, with approval from the MLB Players Association, there were no restrictions on them pitching this winter in the Dominican Republic because they were born there.
However, if Clase or Ortiz tried to pitch winter ball in a country where they were not natives, they needed consent from the Guardians. MLB was contacted by Venezuela’s winter league earlier this week for permission to let Clase pitch for the Tiburones La Guaira. MLB contacted the Guardians and the Guardians did not give their consent.
Here are some of the reasons:
The investigation is still ongoing.
The Guardians have not been in contact with Clase or Ortiz for months. They have no idea how much they’ve been throwing or training.
If they are found innocent, why would they consent to have Clase pitch in Venezuela instead of getting ready for the 2026 season after missing so much time during the regular season and postseason?
If Clase and Ortiz face discipline from Commissioner Rob Manfred — a lifetime ban is possible — why would the Guardians go out of their way to help either player? The Guardians had to pay their salaries through the full season while scrambling to replace them for the final three months and postseason — Ortiz was in the starting rotation and Clase was MLB’s best closer from 2022-24.
Clase and Ortiz were training with the Estrellas Orientales when LIDOM rejected their request to play in the Dominican. They are suing the league and president Vitelio Mejia for the right to play.
Officially, Clase and Ortiz are no longer on paid leave because the regular season is over. Players get paid only between opening day and the end of the regular season. They are now on the restricted list, which means they do not count against the 40-man roster, and in their specific case they cannot be traded.
