It's a bitch to strand the winning runner at 3rd when he got there with one out.
It's a bitch to have the lead off runner at 2nd not score.
Hence my comment, "crap!"

I can see not going for the complete game on Opening Day--my guess is that rarely happens anymore. But the point about Perez is a solid one, leaving aside that he shouldn't have been guaranteed the closer role anyway coming off a mediocre 2011.
This team can't afford to throw away starts like Masterson had today. And if memory serves, didn't we have even more trouble scoring in extra innings a year ago than in most situations?
At the very least, have Pestano warmed up, too, and watch how Perez does.

On the closer move, Charlie Manuel pulled Halladay out today after 92 pitches through 8. Papelbon worked the 9th to preserve a 1-0 win

Let's see in my man Jack Hannahan can have a miracle Opening Day.

I got home and put the game on just in time to watch them tie it up

I was at a hotel bar in Copley Square in Boston when Lloyd made that remark. That trip was also my first visit to Fenway.
Two down in our 10th

We've now gone 8 innings without a run.

Where is "home" at present? Still in Tennessee or NC?

So it's YOUR fault!

With tomorrow being a rare non travel off day, I would have let Pestano pitch the 11th. He was at 25 pitches.

Yep I guess it's my fault.
I am still in NC....getting "Home" to Tennessee once every month or so. Retirement date is set at Feb 2013 but with Terminal Leave and stuff I should be done Dec 21st.
I'm currently taking an EMT course which once I get certified will transfer seamlessly to TN. Can't go EMT-I or Paramedic though they won't transfer.
Figure I'll be a Fireman when I grow up.....at least for a while till I think of something else I wanna do.

Sounds like a plan!
I know firemen in some cities can make pretty good bucks with the overtime structure. In San Jose I heard near 90K+ is attainable. A premium is paid for those with degrees.
