Leadoff St. Louis single for Descalso (who is he?)

And he gets a Texas League single....

Two on, and no out, and the pitcher up to bunt.

LaRussa wastes a pitcher I think by having one called as the batter, then switching to Lohse to lay down the bunt.

Ugly bunt works.

Great fielding by Texas as the SS fielded the airborne bunt on the wheel play and threw to first for the out. Andrus was charging from 3rd as the bunt went airborne and landed behind him.

Pujols steps in the box as the winning run for St. Louis.

Runners on 2nd and 3rd, and one out. A single can tie it again.

New Texas pitcher.

Edwin Jackson will be in the box score without seeing or throwing a pitch.

Too bad this drama is well after midnight on the east coast.

Scott Feldman firing to Texas.

Fielders Choice makes it 2 out, and 7-6.

Correcting myself, NOW Pujols steps in....to take an IBB.

Tying run at 2nd, winning run at 1st.

Texas native Lance Berkman strides to the plate for St. Louis to try to keep it alive.

If anyone is keeping track, The Texas Rangers have now TWICE been one strike away from clinching tonight.

But are now hoping for an 11th.

And they get it.

Wow.

14 pitchers have been used in this game. Including Edwin Jackson.

Former Cleveland Indian Jake Westbrook in for St. Louis.

And he gets a lazy fly for out number one.

Napoli singles to right, reaching base for the 5th time tonight.

I think a clinch for Texas clinches MVP for Napoli.

Long way to go....

In the realm of chokes, this is past the Buckner game, past the Mesa game, past all of 'em. How do you blow a 2-run lead in BOTH the 9th and 10th? With the Cardinals forced to use a pitcher to bat, of all things?

Washington should be fired on the spot for giving up the platoon advantage in the 10th. He's damn lucky the guy he intentionally walked (as the winning run) didn't score.

What did I say in here a few weeks ago about ex-Indians in the postseason?

There's no coming back from this for the Rangers. Who do they bring in to protect a late lead, Jim Kern? Tomorrow's game could be a blowout like KC over the Cardinals in Game 7 in '85.
