Rusty have you watched this sad excuse for a baseball team? You have been so conditioned by the dolans to expect garbage that you are happy with a third place finish in a crappy division. Maybe there is some reason the fans dont go that doesnt have anything to do with the economy. Maybe they dont like be lied to over and over again. This brain trust went into this season with Matt Laporta at first base. They were telling us the paying public that we dont care how we do this year. When by a miracle they found themselves in contention in early summer it was too late to act. Their rival had what they needed and that was that. If you think I am just picking on the dolans you are wrong. I think I have been equally hard on Randy (Go back to JV tennis at shaker) Lerner.

Let me sum up that post. Rusty, I not only whine about the Dolans but I also whine about Randy Lerner. I agreed and suggested all of their good decisions but I am going to whine about anything that went wrong.

Hindsight is usually 20-20. BUT no way should Masterson have started the 7th. He was struggling most of the day. Unfortunately he also got stuck with a 2nd rate defense. How many times do we have to see an outfielder let one go over their head that should have been caught had they simply gotten back to the wall? See this problem on other teams as well.

It's not all that much fun on September 9th as it was just a week's worth of past games away were.
We all witnessed a transition in Tribe Management thought this season.
The "menagerie pieces" that
Charlie aptly referenced some years back were unexpectedly put fully in play in a "balls to the wall move."
My best walkaway from this season is that I will not second guess......other than maybe timing........ the Tribe Brass made with the "in season" moves of 2011. That aggressiveness been a long time in coming in The Shapiro Regime.
It didn't work out this time.
Many here....including me......lamented we had not been so aggressive in past seasons..

TFISC- Agree totally with your post. While injuries contributed greatly to bringing youngsters up, there was a shift in allowing youngsters to do more than just learn by watching. Hopefully it pays off .

I agree with you two guys, the aggressive moves (promotions from AAA despite advancing arbitration dates), trades for proven talent were a nice change of pace. I never understood why they didn't pick up at least one RH bat along the way, however. Probably wouldn't have made diffrence in the long run but the offense has been unbalanced all year and I remain confident that will be remedied by spring: which might mean a good LH hitter is swapped.

While Sizemore is an emotional favorite, and hits for power (when he doesn't strike out), I would not pick up his option. Sizemore could then join the rest of the former Indians as Detroit's left fielder, and hit a ton in that lineup.
I would also trade not only Carmona for whatever we could get, but perhaps package him with Chris Perez and find someone in the National League that might want them. For me Pestano is my closer.
If we didn't flirt with 1st a large part of this year, we would all be estatic with our record. There has been strong development with Brantley, Kipnis, Pestano, and Chiz.
Wish it were different. Motto has changed from What if... to Whatever!

Nah,
UD. I'm never a "whatever guy," and no one else should be either.
There is ALWAYS a way or multiple ways to affect and influence the outcome in life.
