I still don't understand why < 3 months of CC during 2008 would have been worth more than what Brantley has provided so far

The only reason why we would like to have received more is that we, in theory, were the team that held all the advantages in the deal. And we did think we were getting more, i.e. one of the top power hitter prospects in baseball at the time. And we also were able to get what look like better-in-the-long run deals for Cliff and Victor.

Brantley is doing OK. That deal is beginning to look like a straight up deal for CC. Brantley not quite worth a CC. LaPorta's been a bust. I would change my mind if LaPorta got his act together. Highly unlikely. He had holes in his bat ever since I saw him on a consistent basis when he was playing for Leones in Venezuela a few years ago. Things have not changed much since.
