Carlos Santana left Wednesday's game against the Mariners after getting hit in the mask with a foul ball.
Santana went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts before being replaced by Lou Marson behind the plate. The Indians were well behind in the game, so there was no reason to leave him out there. Stay tuned for an update.

Tigers and Rays go to extra innings. Tide in yet another 1-run ball game going after 6 straight. The schedule makers did us a favor but we are blowing it.

Two out, bases loaded, runners going on contact. Grounder to Inge who fires to second. Runner safe at second, run scores on the fielder's choice.

They don't need to. Win half their games and they coast in.

I missed numbers 599 and 600 while I was in sports limbo. I had a chance to revisit the moment this evening. The awesome thing about Thome's homers in Tiger stadium........both were hit to left field and both were no-doubters. The first one from the offering of Porcello, right hander, and the historic shot came off of a lefty. I'll have to say that I am very much anticipating Jimmy's first at bat tomorrow night. For me, it's going to be a special moment.

I'm considering going down there tomorrow night.

If I were in Cleveland, I would be in the stands encouraging a Standing O as Jim Thome strides to the plate.
Pretty sure it will happen without me being there....
Gotta give the brass credit. They fired volley's, with the lateness of the timing perhaps debatable.
Then with a late volley they went for the sentimental and eternal hope aspect.
I'm OK with that.
Here's to a great and memorable 35 games of 2011 regular season Cleveland Indians Baseball.

I'm with you, TFISC.
The team has still surpassed my expectations for the season no matter what, and this thing can still end up several different ways. We can still get right back in it.
Some have already awarded the MOY to Acta but for me the true test will come from now to the end of the season. He has been a part of the hot start and making this group of players believe they can contend now. There has been some good chemistry and some not so good chemistry, but overall I feel Acta has done a decent job with the talent available.
Injuries have decimated a talent level that was a bit thin in the first place, and the organization has done well bringing up young talent. Now the organization has made the kinds of moves we'd have liked to have seen in years past.
If Acta can drag the best performance out of the players he has left then I can see him deserving such an award. Even if they fall short I'll be happy as long as the team as a whole scraps and fights for every win from now until they're mathematically eliminated.
Of course as always it will be up to the players to rise to the occasion between the lines. Or to sink. I fully expect some sort of a winning run to happen in the coming weeks. If it fails to materialize then at that point I'd only be slightly disappointed in the season this team has given us.
