Now Cabrera trying to get a two out hit with no one on.

Cabrera smokes it down the line but it is fielded by their Cabrera who beat our Cabrera to 1st.

We'll need 9th inning theatrics in Cleveland.

Local folks might want to check out this weekend's games as Gaylord Perry, Roberto Alomar and Bert Blyleven are coming in for alumni weekend.

I chatted very briefly with Gaylord at a San Francisco Giants fan day a couple years back.

Two out single brings Action Jackson to the plate for Detroit.

Belcher visits the mound and makes Sipp laugh with some line.

Pestano getting ready while they chat.

And Sipp K's the next guy for out #3.

To our 9th, and the rally t-shirts are out in Cleveland.

Hafner, Santana and Fukudome to produce our run...or more.

Valerie Birdie pitching for Detroit, I believe I heard the announcers say.....

Ump's strike zone continues to evolve it seems......but I guess that ball did rise enough to be a semi-legit called 3rd strike to Hafner.

Santana up with one out....

And now Fukudome needs to be clutch with two out.

Hit it hard, but three out.

4-3 final as the Tigers break their 13 game Cleveland losing streak.

The Tigers got an unearned run in the first off of Fausto Carmona that became quite controversial. Austin Jackson led off the game with an easy grounder to Lonnie Chisenhall. The third baseman’s throw was a little high and first baseman Carlos Santana didn’t come off the bag to make the catch and apply a tag. The ball skipped off his glove and Jackson ended up on second. He was moved to third on a groundout and scored on a sacrifice fly by Magglio Ordonez (Kosuke Fukudome made a diving catch on the line drive).

After the inning, Asdrubal Cabrera was visibly upset with Santana and got right in his face. The two began yelling at each other and had to be separated. It was clear that Santana’s drop from the night before on a Cabrera play was still on Asdrubal’s mind (the play was changed yesterday afternoon from a hit to an error, and all three runs that scored on the play became unearned). And well it should have been. You cannot give the Tigers extra outs, especially with Verlander on the mound. Santana’s defense leaves much to be desired whether it’s at first or behind the plate. Asdrubal, being one of the veteran leaders on this team, decided he had enough.

“I like it,” Manny Acta said of AC getting in the face of Santana. “It means people around here want to win. Asdrubal confronted Carlos about not catching the throw. Carlos didn’t like the way he talked to him. That’s fire. I like it. People care.”

While Cabrera wouldn’t talk about it after the game, Santana told reporters “Everything is fine. This is something that happens to teams. Me and him are friends.”
