Evidently, Asdrubal wore out his welcome. I assumed we wouldn't get much in return, but this was not the deal I imagined.

Really surprised the Indians are paying the rest of Asdrubal's salary. Basically like a $3.3M signing bonus for Zach Walters.

Anthony Castrovince

Asdrubal did not have much trade value. Obviously.......

I guess I'm in the minority but I don't hate this trade.

Walters has played all over the field. 2B, SS, 3B, RF, LF. I'm sure he can play 1st and CF too in a pinch.

Rayburn has been awful this year. Aviles not much better.

Yes, I too do not like how much he's struck out. My complaint about the guy we picked up yesterday too. But he does have some pop in his bat. Is a switch hitter. Can play about anywhere but the battery. I think this young man can help us.

Also read that Walters plays a good 3rd base and has a rocket arm. You may see him play there vs. lefties. As well as some at SS until Lindor is ready.

I agree that if Walters could spell Raburn that would be helpful. He's a switch hitter. He's played 8 games in LF this year; 1 in RF in 2010. That's his entire OF career. He hit 29 homers last year, while walking 20 times and striking out 134! He's reduced the ratio to 3X1 this year; 15 homers in 261 AB so his SLG is 655, that's all in AAA. 3 homers in 45 TAB for the Nats this year.

It certainly is not a trade of like for like. I would assume SS will be shared by Ramirez and Aviles until Lindor is ready. Walters can help Chisenhall at 3rd (you may have noticed that Lonnie has stopped hitting, which is probably back to his norm), Kipnis at 2nd, and Dickerson in LF.

He has to be better in OF than our current reserves.

Let's not forget. Our defense has been terrible this year. Let's see if this kid can help that. And maybe slug a few along the way.

Like Rusty said, Cabrera didnt have a lot of value. Dude was hitting .246 and struggling with a back problem, which is always a red flag.

OK you guys have convinced me.

Or is it my eternal optimism for the Tribe?

Does this guy Walters go on the 25 man roster immediately? Can he play tonight?

I do think I read that, Loufla. (that he would be joining Tribe roster)

I'd like to his splits vs lefties and vs right-handers. We have not well against left handers and 2nd, 3rd, lf and rf all could stand a RH bat to split the load with Aviles.

Oops, not so fast, HB. Sorry Loufla, but I also just read that the Indians plan on placing him at AAA till September. So I have two differing reports.

Pregame show starts in a little over an hour. Should get definitive word then.

.444 vs lefties.

.133 vs righties.

That's why I expect him to split some time with Chisenhall

That was this year.

For his two years in little time in Washington ... .417 vs lefties. ... .171 vs righties
