" Over his 51 game minor league career he owns a .280 batting average with 69 HR, 284 RBI and .806 OPS. He also has a 130-493 walk to strikeout ratio in 2,101 plate appearances."

How does someone get 2101 plate appearances in 51 games???

Sounds strange.

I think we can safely assume those are his minor league totals.

This may be as useless a pickup as what we got for our last SS: Jhonny Peralta for Giovanny Soto, LH reliever, who's still in AA. Although I will need to look the guy up in my prospects books. Maybe he's the next Mike Aviles? I was hoping for a pitcher.

Unless this last trade results in a more complicated resolution with other teams, the front office gets a failure on this one. JMHO.

BA chat on the Nats Top 10 last winter:

Ben (Leland Grove): Besides power, does Zach Walters have any other standout tools, and was he in the 11-20 range?
Aaron Fitt: He has plus arm strength as well, which should be an asset at shortstop, but he’s just an erratic defender, and his strikeout/walk rate is a significant concern for me. Those are the two main reasons he did not rank in the top 10. He feels more like a nice utilityman than an everyday guy to me, but he is still a prospect, and he ranks in the 11-15 range.

DET acquires Price in three-team blockbuster

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Tigers have acquired David Price from the Rays.
It's part of a three-team swap that also involves the Mariners, as suggested earlier by Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. The Rays will get shortstop prospect Nick Franklin from Seattle and left-handed starter Drew Smyly from Detroit. The Mariners will get center fielder Austin Jackson. And the Tigers wind up with another ace to add to a rotation that already includes Max Scherzer, Anibal Sanchez, and Justin Verlander.

Supposedly other players involved. Like Tijuan Walker maybe. But that's the gist of it.

Tigers telling Oakland, sorry, we see you loading up, but we're still gonna whoop that ass.

Howdy folks.

I understood the Masterson trade. And I knew Cabrera would be next on the block. But why did we take a journeyman SS in return? That has me baffled. Does anyone here understand the justification, in particular why we took back another infielder?

I figured we go for a pitching prospect or bullpen guy in return for ACab?

Well - that Price trade seals the deal. No catching the Tigers this year.

A city that goes into bankruptcy but still can afford a top of the line baseball team.
