Still virtually no offense by Akron, but they won a game today, 2-1.

http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.js ... x&sid=milb

Only serious prospect on this team, Erik Gonzalez, went 0-4 and is hitting .208
lesser prospect Yandy Diaz, 3B, 1-4 with 3K, is hitting .174

Clint Frazier lifts his avg to 348, no I guess it drops to 348, going 1-3. Nearly all singles so his OPS is 743.
Brad Zimmer hitless with 2K, is hitting only 227, OPS is 710.
Mike Papi continues to show an inability to do anything but walk, hitless once again, batting average is 50, as in .050. Didn't even draw a walk today.
But he's ahead of Nellie Rodriguez who after another hitless day is batting 40.

That was game 1 of 2. The second was another less, but involved a bit of offense.
Frazier 1-2 with a walk: .360.
Zimmer 2-3 with a walk: now .280, that looks much better.
Nellie Rodriguez with a hit! surges to .069
Papi gets the second game off.

too busy trying to figure out my son's taxes this morning to post Tuesday results. I gave up and filed an extension. Here are the boxes:

http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.js ... d=20150414

Clippers split 1-0 decisions. Akron won 5-4. Captains split losing 7-0 on one hit; and won 2-1 on 7 hits.

Nice pitching by LH Sean Brady for Lake County 6-4-1-1-1-4
Also by LH about double his age, Bruce Chen 6 innings, 1 run for Columbus.
Armstrong with his 2nd Columbus save. we'll save him sooner or later in Cleveland since he's on the 40 man roster and can be optioned and recalled pretty much at will.

Danny Salazar making his second start tonight for Columbus. He was lights out with his season debut. We need him back soon.

Cody Anderson who looked very good in his first 2015 start for Akron also is back out there tonight. One of few starting pitcher prospects in the upper minors, was excellent in 2013 in Carolina League, pretty bad in Akron last year, returns there this season, but still cracked our Top 10 prospects.

Oh, well I guess Danny will not be pitching tonight for the Clippers. I would prefer he had several starts in Columbus instead of just one. Even if that meant McAllister got another start or two.

Well, didn't they have to bring Salazar up to fill in?

They had to push Carrasco's start back a little due to the injury, and they probably wanted to keep the R-L-R thing going in the rotation.

Continued stunningly consistent offensive incompetence across our entire minor league system

Columbus in the second game of a double header. At this point they have played 12 innings between the two games and have amassed one hit, an RBI single by Lindor which scored the only run of the opener and gave them a win.

As of this moment the highest batting avg in today's lineup is Holt at 211 and no one else tops 158. Moncrief drew a walk and his walks and strikeouts are even at 4 apiece to date which is a marked improvement on his past, of couse he's hitting .158,

The rest of our teams are about midway in their games and none of has scored a run. Akron through 5 innings has twosingles, one by Erik Gonzalez who is hitting 222, which might merit him a promotion to AAA.
Anderson has scattered 7 hits over 6 innings, allowed only 1 run and is of course behind in the score.

Lynchburg just scored a run!! On Zimmer;s second homer, he;s hitting 296. Frazier has fanned twice, avg now 333. Mike Papi is quite a leadoff man, hitless once again is now batting a nickle less than 50 cents. Which means he trails Nellie Rodriguez by two dimes. Paul Hendrix who is not thought of as a prospect is hittint 364, as the regular 3rd baseman.

Adam Plutko is even in the score, 5 innings, he's allowed a single run on two hit, fanned 5.

lake County which rarely scores is behind 1-0 midway through 4. Captains now "hitting".The attack so far consists of a single. Greg Allen at 240 tops the regulars in today's lineup. Bobby Bradley is resting. Anderson Polanco being [comparatively] battered for 1 run on two hits in 4 innings.

So to sum up, so far today, our teams have played 7+5+6+5+4 innings, that adds up to 27, and have scored 2 runs on 9 hits. Pitcherrs have surrendered none in AAA in 12 innings, 1 in 6 AA innings, 1 in High A 5 and 1 in Low A 4. We've been outscored 3-2 for the night.

Maybe bats will come alive late today, but this is pretty reflective of the first week of the season as a whole. Many more wweeks for Papi and Lindor and Mejia and all the rest to remember how to hit.

Zimmer was just 1 for 5 yesterday. At least his 1 hit was a homer.

Later in the games some offense arose, but late losses generally resulted. 2-3 for Clippers, 1-2 for RDucks, 4-5 the Hillcats., 3-5 for Captains.

Good to see Carlos Moncrief drawing more walks (2 yesterday) than strikeouts; that's a big change in his game.

For Lynchburg unsung Paul Hendrix with 3 hits is batting 360. Luigi Rodriguez two hits. Nellie Rodriguez doubled and walked twice. Clint Frazier fanned 4 times vs 1 walk. Mike Papi continues to flail away, 0-5 3K he's hitting 40. Papi didn't do anything last year that really warranted a promotion to Lynchburg: he batted .178 at Lake County OPS 579. Maybe a step back would make sense.

A very rare homerun by an Indians prospect, Taylor Murphy with a 3 run blast, was the entire Lake County offense. Mejia did manage a hit, so did Greg Allen, Chang walked once and fanned twice

Oh yes, and that reminds me. I posted a tweet the other day about an Indians reliever who has yet to allow a run in his pro career.
