Kearns looked really bad on that pitch. He saw the runners going and choked in his attempt to at least get the bat on the ball.

Texas announcers note that Fukudome didn't slide in his attempt to get to 3rd safely on the play, and then add "well if he attempted to slide from as far as the throw beat him he would have ended up 10 feet short of 3rd."

Indeed he was. I had missed that connection.

Indians did not acquire him until they traded Russel Branyan.

I`m still stumped to this day why the Mariners gave anything of value for Branyan.

The more I see him, the more I like him!

I think a water cooler would have more value to this team than Austin Kearns.

I know left handed pitchers always seem to find a way of keeping a job but I don't recall many right handed hitters that were fortunate enough to last on a team with these numbers.
