Guess it was a long weekend drinking again.
Boring...... Could you please post something actually about baseball ? Other wise you should stay in the Idle chatter or start a Ramblings by Otis the drunk folder.
Swisher got the contract he got because he decided to play for the Indians. He shopped it every where he could. No one would match it. Swisher is here for a while whether you like it or not.

Jose Veras - R - Tigers
Tigers acquired RHP Jose Veras from the Astros for OF Danry Vasquez and a player to be named later.
Veras, 32, has a cool 2.93 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 44/14 K/BB ratio in 43 innings this year with Houston and could get a shot at saves in Detroit if Joaquin Benoit experiences a couple of hiccups. Veras is earning $1.85 million this season and carries a $3.25 million team option for 2014.
Vasquez, a 19-year-old from Venezuela, was batting .281/.333/.390 with five homers and nine steals through 96 games this year for Low-A West Michigan.
This is the kind of guy would be my #1 priority to get before the deadline.

I like the way "Nolan Ryan's" Rangers players came in here and tore apart the players chosen by the non-baseball playing Ivy League management, as predicted...NOT.
What a joke.

Need to pick up an effective lefty for the pen.
Wonder if John Rocker or Ricardo Rincon is available?

Indians had interest in White Sox reliever Jesse Crain, who has been traded to Rays, but it cooled after he injured shoulder.

Tim Brown ✔ @TBrownYahoo
Source: Pujols has been told he's likely done for the season. Surgery possible, but undetermined.
Don't the St. Louis Cardinals look brilliant right now for letting this guy walk? Why screw your organization for years to come with a contract that has way too many years in it?
Good move Cardinals.
(I'm sure Albert felt "disrespected).

Swisher is hitting .282 in July (after .160 in June) and is 9-of-27 with 2 HR batting #2.

The Tribe was lifted to victory tonight by a known roider who came off the bench with needle scars......(I guess needle scars, I've never personally done roids) to hit the game winning home run...
To keep false hope of a 2013 Cleveland Indians post season alive and muck up the decisions that Shapsonetti should be making, and are ill equipped for making, for the future of this franchise over "the next four years."
I had to smile when I realized that KenM was thinking about typing "We Could Have Signed Manny" as the Giambi shot went out for the win.
I heard Pittsburgh might be helped in right field or at first base...
We've gone backwards in the division since the break, despite the current turn of good fortune.
And Kansas City suddenly seems to have figured out what to do with their talent and are threatening to get a winning season.
And are gaining on us since the break.
Don't look back.

MLB.com contributor Joel Hammond conducted a Q&A with Indians GM Chris Antonetti regarding the upcoming trade deadline.
Antonetti conceded that the bullpen needs to get better at retiring left-handed batters and also discussed how changes in the newest CBA have impacted the summer trading process.
Antonetti told Hammond that August might now represent a better opportunity to acquire players, as there will be more separation from bubble teams who aren't sure whether to buy or sell in July.

30,000 empty seats Monday night at Progressive Field, and just slightly less tonight at least according to the ESPN box score I just read.
I guess no one in Cleveland is catching "Indians Fever." Despite the 5 game win streak prior to tonight.
And certainly we can take from the empty seats as The Tribe is way mathematically in the chase for the post season, Shaps and Antonetti are marketing and sales dweebs.
I don't believe in Shaps and Antonetti, and certainly not Dolan.
The fine people of Cleveland apparently agree with me, as none are buying tickets to pay the $25 million for Cabrera and Swisher next season, and the overall $45 million that will be owed to Swisher in 2014, 2015, and 2016, with a possible $17 million add on for 2017 if he gets qualified at bats in 2016.
Detroit won tonight.
Face the facts.
Again, if Shaps and Antonetti had any baseball skill or credibility they should and could have dumped Swisher weeks ago and ACTUALLY improved the team for 2013 and lessened the payroll this year and going forward.
And once again, I am back in total agreement with KenM that Dolan is dumb and a loser.
Mark (Shapiro) my words, the lead of the moribund Swisher contract will be trotted out as an excuse for Shaps and Antonetti over the next few losing years as Dolan has apparently accepted the dweebs as Indians Czars for Life for inexplicable reasons.
We are not making the playoffs in 2013.
Go start a 10,000 piece jigsaw puzzle and accomplish more by October than The Indians will do.

I've been listening to the games on xm the last couple nights, and thoroughly enjoying them. I don't worry about whether they will win the next game, what the attendance was, or what management is doing. Sports are supposed to be fun. If you can't enjoy them, why bother?
