Yes. The Tigers lost today, so if we win tonight, it's only 3.5 games. Their ace, Verlander, got creamed last night.

My barometer ends on All-Star Break Week. I consider 5 games behind at that time almost insurmountable. It really comes down to who has the best pitching at the break and who holds the hot hand.

I have 16 years of miscellaneous posts on the history of these boards for documentation for those that can remember anything that happened before last Monday.

Cleveland pissed me off with what I'll openly call "racism" as The City voted against Mitt Romney in numbers in precincts from 89% to 100%. Was Mitt Romney so ominous as to get that widespread Cleveland hatred?

I do not think so.

Mark Shapiro has been useless in my book for years for Tribe Fans, and I have posted that thought for same years.

Jimmy Haslam in my book now is just what The People of Cleveland might have deserved and I am just as pissed off at him as I am at The People of Cleveland. I'm still percolating on those thoughts.


Nice couple of days for The Tribe. I check the scores, but do not watch the games at this time. Tonight I watched Stanley Cup Hockey and had a good time. Go Figure.

What the HELL does that have to do with supporters of the Cleveland sports teams? Do you seriously believe that all their fans reside in the wards you refer to? Since you keep posting it on this board, do you think that the members here live there? And how do you know that people voted AGAINST Romney? Maybe they voted FOR Obama? Finally, why do you keep bringing politics up here, when you have been requested to confine that topic to the folder created for such discussion?

New Mariott to join hotel village in Jackson

An area already dotted with motels and hotels is getting another inn — the Akron-Canton area’s first SpringHill Suites by Marriott — an all-suite facility.

It is set to open near Westfield Belden Village Mall in May 2014.

Akron-Canton area motel/hotel operator Dave Patel last week broke ground on the building, which is being constructed at 5770 Dressler Road NW, west of Interstate 77.

Apparently Northeastern Ohio cares not for white Mormons as the "crack" Akron Beacon Journal staff does not realize that is an incorrect spelling of "Marriott" in their headline.

For those not paying attention, the founders and family members of the Marriott chain are indeed white Mormons, as of course is Mitt Romney.

The ABJ manages to spell Jay-Z correctly as he wishes in headlines about him, for whatever reason they are written.

Back to baseball and certainly Cleveland Indians conversation related, the Pittsburgh Pirates won tonight to go to 43-30.

For those apparently mesmerized by the "magical spell" of Mark Shapiro, I'll note there are 30 teams in Major League baseball and only THREE have failed to have a winning season in the years since 2007.

The aforementioned Pittsburgh Pirates who seem inclined to leave the group of perennial non winners to make it just TWO teams in MLB to not have a winning season since 2007.

Kansas City, and the Cleveland Indians "our" Mark Shapiro "built" for us this year after many prior losing Shapiro years.

Mark Shapiro is on a teeter totter for 2013 with the honor of having the current most consecutive losing seasons of any MLB organization on the line.


JR, I pound the Shapiro drum 17,000 times because it confounds me that no one here seems to realize or care about the cancer he has been to Cleveland Indians success and fandom.

Donna likely still remembers that he could not even arrange enough giveaways to be on hand for her to get one as a season package holder with a reasonably early gametime arrival that day.

I guess one of my most valuable summers of life might have been the summer of 1973 when I took an auto mechanics course in summer adult education between my junior and senior years. I noted a "speed reading" course was available on the opposite nights of auto mechanic class, so I enrolled in that one, too.


True story, at the age of 16 I thought my speed reading instructor was going to be Mrs. Woods.

Mrs. Woods it turned out was not present as I learned her speed reading touted techniques.

With a nod to "Miss Barbara," in the summer of 1973 I also fondly recall Lynn, Denise, Kathy, Melanie and Kim. Especially Kim.

And I guess near the same level, Denise. Her Dad was shall we just say in the law enforcement field and kept a copious stock of "Rolling Rock" in his basement early era "Man Cave." He never seemed to care much about his inventory checking in that summer of 1973 when I hung with his daughter at least a little, many of those summer days.


In 1973, George Hendrick was my favorite Tribester.
