Manager Kirk Gibson spoke highly of the Cleveland Indians, one of the bigger surprises in baseball. Not many expected much from them, and yet here they are, battling for first place in the American League Central. "They're a good ball club," Gibson said after Monday's 5-4 loss. "If you look at how they played tonight, that's how they win ball games. They used five (relief) pitchers. They match up with you. They got in a situation, and they got the job done. It'll be more of the same (Tuesday.) It's what they do."

Shaw labels Grady a '.225 hitter who is a strikeout machine.'

Bobby Valentine, on the ESPN Sunday night game, said that Sizemore can't hit the inside fastball. He has to start the bat sooner than he should and is way out in front of any soft or breaking stuff.
Watching Brady Anderson's final season.....same swing.

No doubt about it, Grady is a major disappointment.

Might his last injury have something to do with it? He came back from the surgery hitting rather well; lots of doubles and homers made up for a 250 average and not many walks. Much worse since his second return.

Civ-
Bobby V says Grady has 2 bad knees so there is no base to start from as a hitter.
You have to believe the vulnerability is in his head. Mentally psyched out and physically debilitated. He's clearly a full stride slower in the field and on the bases. Not a formula with a favorable chance for success. Of course he will be in the lineup everyday until the next injury and return to the DL.
Too bad, kid had game.

It is so sad to see Grady play the last few weeks. He is just not himself. In tonights game a fly to CF was hit long and hard and he caught up with it but could not catch it. Took a blow from the fence also.
Just look at Grady's eyes, one can see sadness and frustration.
Will he make it back? I dont know but I am glad we have Carrera in case we need him defensively.

Looking for a way to defend Grady on that play he had to put his back to the plate in a ballpark he likely is playing in for just his second game. It would have been a super catch if he made it, but it was definitely catchable.

Our 2-0 lead has turned into a 3-2 deficit.
We have six outs to work with.

Arizona takes the lead on another hit by Kelly Johnson. Wonder if they will be smart enough to pitch around him tomorrow ? Wake up on the bench.

Chisenhall has a hit in every game of his Major League career.
Tonight he has scored his first MLB run.

Buck and Duncan are killing this team both offensively and defensive. Get rid of them. And then their is Kearns. Acta had to even pinch-run Phelps, who was their best hitter left, because these other guys cannot even do that very good.

AC hurls his bat to the ground as he launches a lazy fly to left he knows he should have nailed.
