Another super job by the bullpen "B team": Festa, Allard and Junis, and then Smith for 4 perfect innings.
Arias with another RBI. Kwan with the game winner.
By the way, Arias with RISP: 361/440/590.

Arias is turning in to a player. Looks like he learned to take at least the first pitch while he was on the DL,

That's good to see. The Clevinger traded continues to bring dividends.
And Cecconi counts as part of the return, too.

Kayfus starting against a LH pitcher today, apparently a good one. Although I have never heard of him, Mets starter David Peterson is a 29 year old who's record this year is 7-4 with a 2.81 ERA. Was 10-3 2.90 last year.

We score first on David Fry's 6th homer; out of his 17 hits.

I wish Williams could cut down on the walks and pitch more efficiently. He has 2 scoreless hitless innings in the books but it took him 38 pitches with 2 walks and a wild pitch. I like Cecconi's efficiency, he is able to go deeper into games, made it to the 9th one start.

Meanwhile Angle Martinez 10th homer [I didn't realize he had anywhere near that many] with Kwan aboard puts Gs up 3 in the 3rd.l

It would be quite noteworthy if Cleveland could sweep the Mets while Ramirez goes hitless; he's 0-10 to this point.

Quite an outing by Williams! first hit on his 121st pitch.
Sweep the Mets
6 behind the Tigers (unless they rally for 5 or more in the 9th)

Too many 0-2 counts. Then the count is 3-2. including yesterday MLB says he had done that 16 times this year. 3 resulting in walks. Seems like that number should be higher.

Can't knock success, but he's so close to being a star that it is frustrating sometimes. He should be able to help us save the bullpen but all those extra pitches cost us a couple relief innings most of his starts.

Vogt's rule that everyone on the roster has to start some games every week gave us the thrill of seeing Nolan Jones in RF and Kayfus on the bench last night. CJ wound up with one at bat when he came off the bench. Jones had what for him passes as a good day at the plate, not striking out even once in 3 hitless at bats.
Kwan's hitting slump continued. He also made an error [career high 8th] on a throw, but also nailed a go-ahead runner at the plate with his major league leading 11th OF assist.

Very impressive debut by Parker Messick, only 82 pitches in 6 2/3 innings; only one walk; the only run off him came in his first inning
Smith lost the lead.
Then they turned to Festa who lost it in the 10th after the Gs showed a totally ineffective top of the 10th, leaving the automatic runner at first base just where he started
