and in game 2 8th inning they strung the hits together. Batting averages are pretty darned good
Tonight 5 of the starters are hitting over 300. Reyes and Hedges below 200; Rosario has crashed down to 214. that's all with Miller getting the night off.

Blue Jays regular CF is on the IL. Brad Zimmer starts instead; to date the big guy is 2 for 33 with 1 walk and 15 strikeouts.

Some more very good situational hitting and guys going the opposite way to drive in runs with singles.
Counterfactual of the day: Kwan homers; Reyes singles three times.
The late rally with 3 consecutive rbi hits pretty much the same as the night before.
Does the new batting coach get credit?

Athletes at the Major League level are their own coaches. They look at video. They read scouting reports. They talk to teammates.
Coaches, at this level, are just another sounding board for players.
Credit? Nah.. not much

Bieber with a terrible 7 run 3 1/3 inning start in game 1.
McKenzie with a sloppy 2 run first in game 2 but then shut 'em out for 5 innings, while the G's racked up 7 runs including a homer by Reyes. As the time I type there are 5 in the lineup [including Maile] hitting over 300.
Every starter but Clement and Mercado with at least one hit. Miller with his 10th double, a single, a walk, 2 rbi, hitting 353 with 11 bi
Giminez two singles and his 15th rbi, hitting 348
Kwan a single and his 13th rbi, hitting 324
Ramirez 8th double, hitting 313
Maile 4th doubles, those are all 4 of his hits, batting 308.
Mercado hitless but his sac fly just made it 8-2 and he's walked; that's 12 rbi, avg 185

Zimmer in what is very likely his last Blue Jays game since their regular CF is off the DL. Zimm is 2 K in 2 At bat tonight; that makes his season totals for the Jays 3 for 39 1 walk 1 homer 1 rbi 19 strikeouts.
He's due up in the 8th for what I would imagine may well be his final at bat in the majors, although someone may give him a look again; he still does Look Like a Ballplayer.

Zimmer did not strikeout; his average now is 75 points above zero

Konnor Pilkington and Kirk McCarty have returned to the active roster. Richie Palacios and Enyel De Los Santos are headed back to Triple A.

Not sure why they brought up Pilkington to start instead of Eli Morgan. Pilkington with a few scoreless innings for the Guardians. But In Columbus he has been ieeffective: 2 brieft starts totaling 5 2/3 innings, 7 hits, 4 walks 6 earned run.

They;re still taking advantage of the special COVID rule and adding McCarty who is not on the 40 man roster.
Chang's time on the covid list will have to end soon.
Not sure why Palacios was demoted. He's looked good. Perhaps it means that Reyes will be out in RF more often; and that Naylor also will be in the OF more than at 1st base which will be Miller's most days.

Yeah civ I assume they want Palacios getting everyday at bats in AAA instead of the glut of guys in Cleveland.
Just a short drive away.

I guess so, he was getting pretty good opportunities with the G/s
Meanwhile Pilkington got himself into a big mess in the 1st inning, but survived allowing only 2 runs.
Blue Jay starter's ERA is under 2 so this will not be easy to overcome.
But anything can happen.

He was but that wasn't going to continue.
Meanwhile the Pilkman lasts into the 4th and the Guardees pester Manoah into a couple runs.
NOW they bring in Eli.
So after 4 innings pitched it is 2-2. They'd have signed up for that in a minute. Especially with that killer right handed lineup Toronto has.
