CLEVELAND - Indians closer Chris Perez is at it again.
In an interview with The New York Times , Perez questioned Cleveland fans who “blindly support” the Browns and root against LeBron James.
“I don’t get the psyche,” Perez told The New York Times. “Why cheer against a guy that’s not even in your city anymore? Just to see him fail? Does that make you feel good? I could see if the Cavs were in the championship, but that’s their mentality."
Perez was also confused about the city’s allegiance to the Browns.
“Their whole thing is, ‘We want a winner.’ Well, why do you support the Browns? They don’t win. They’ve never won. They left. You guys blindly support them. I don’t understand it. It’s a double standard, and I don’t know why,” Perez said.

My intent was clear.
Not to me. Sounded like you said that although the front office didn't do well, that doesn't mean others would have done better, given the same amount of money to spend. So I took it as a criticism of ownership.

Again, with a nod to perhaps or maybe not correct nit picking on phrasing.....
My intent was clear. Kenm, Lassie, E.T., Rusty or Gloria Allred could and would have done better than Shapiro and Antonetti.

Thanks for clearing that up
So does Dolan bear any responsibility for spending as little as he has, and for retaining and promoting the current president and the GM he hired?

What Perez is saying is that these dopey millionare athletes who we follow for no good reason decided not to hit the ball or pitch because their manager didnt jump up and down like an idiot and throw his hat. That is very hard to swallow.

Not a Chris Perez soul mate.
I just knew that Perez and others thought Acta sucked. You and others did not. Not unusual.
How does that happen ? I don't watch the games but I do read and I'm more interested in listening and posting articles then proving I am a MLB GM in waiting. I am not.
This was not surprising. I posted that Perez was leading the lynch mob over a month ago.

Hey JR, exactly what conversation are you trying to start ? Do you think if everyone agrees that it makes you right or something ? Obviously the group mind melt is not working.

Actually, I was asking CALI/FLA a question.
And it's all opinion. Doesn't matter how many other people share the same ones or not. Doesn't make anyone right or wrong.

Uncle.
You win.
I guess we'll just all go muzzle down and sniff the air and hope Mark Shapiro and Chris Antonetti have answers if they are still around next season.
I hope they won't be.
I suspect they will be.
I'll see this season to the end. If Shaps and Netti are still in charge as next season start approaches, I'm out of here, and Indian Fandom and promotion to those younger than most of us here.

Hey listen do whatever you need to do. Just do what you say. If you hold to leaving if Shapiro and Antonneti are still here in spring then you better start packing your bags.

I suspect they will be, as well. I'd be surprised if the Dolans made a change.
CALI: Have you given any thought as to which team you will switch your allegiance to?

Supposedly Chris Perez ripped Manny Acta to top management.

I think Acta's approach could work in certain situations, but probably not with this team, which doesn't have many veterans--and the ones we do have/had (Hafner, Choo, Duncan) weren't really in position to do the heavy lifting of emotional leadership. Plus, even before Acta arrived here, the organization has seemed allergic to the idea that players should have any sort of personality (e.g. Brandon Phillips).
Which is why I'm pretty sure Perez will be traded--not that I'm opposed to that if the deal is right.

Here's some modern-day news and notes about this very imperfect season for the Tribe...
•Terry Francona is the favorite to become the Indians' next manager, tweets Nick Camino of WTAM 1100 Radio. Francona and current Tribe interim manager Sandy Alomar Jr. will both interview for the job later this week and are the only known canadidates to replace Manny Acta on the Indians' bench.
•Francona and the Indians are perfectly matched to fit each other's needs, opines ESPN's Jim Bowden (Insider subscription required). While Bowden believes Alomar deserves to be a manager someday, he thinks the pressure is on Cleveland GM Chris Antonetti to deliver quick results. "This is the wrong time and place for Antonetti to take a chance or gamble on an unproven manager. He needs a sure thing to keep his own job, and the Indians need to hire the best available, given the lack of trust from the Indians’ fan base," Bowden writes.
•Travis Hafner "hasn't talked to anybody" in the Indians' front office about their plans for him but he would like to remain with the club, reports MLB.com's Jordan Bastian. The Indians will surely decline Hafner's $13MM option for 2013, making the 35-year-old DH a free agent after 10 years in Cleveland.
•As reported earlier today, Chris Perez said that he wants to stay with the Indians in 2013.
