I think most teams would dream up a phantom injury for Hand and give him a 10 day IL rest.
That's the problem with such a winning streak, we all know the closer has been overused. Shoot, he was even overused early on too.
With Andrew Miller and Cody Allen in the dust bin due to overuse, hazardous to be a closer for this team. Suppose we could add in Bryan Shaw too!

PS - Hand was a bit unlucky. That ball might have been caught by Naquin.

Hand may not sweat like Jose Mesa but he continues to perform like him.

Well, Hand has been really good since he’s been here. I didn’t intend on bashing him. I just think, like TFIR, that he’s going through a little dead arm period and could use a break.
A few outings back he had a real live arm, like last year and earlier this year. Fastball was mid 90’s and slider broke sharp. Looked good. But his few prior outings to that and the couple since he has looked very pedestrian.

A while back one of the TV announcers said Hand’s fastball averaged 1 mph less this year than last. Here lately it’s been 3 or 4 mph less. And missing that sharp slider.
On the bright side, that Hunter Wood dude we picked up in July has looked good.
Karinchak looks to be back from his minor injury. He has another good outing or two (he got roughed up a bit when he first came back) they might want to think about bringing him up and giving Hand a short 10 day break. Let’s see how the kids stuff plays in the big show.

The other trade was Sanchez (starter) who went to Houston.

Drennan will be the first to tell you he has immaculate sources with the Indians. (He isn’t bashful) Dates back to when the Tribe owned the station and his show started.
But would be no shock to find out they were working on more than one up to the deadline. But the Sanchez deal got done before so this isn’t the one that was rumored that I referred to.
I kept saying they should add a good reliever, so Yates makes perfect sense to me.
If they were trying for a starter too then I’m glad that fell through. We wouldn’t be getting a look at Civale.
Civale was drafted 3rd round in the same draft Bieber went in 4th round and Plesac went in 12th round.

Uncle Dennis- to me Wood looks like one of the Musketeers. Now when he comes on my wife says" Here comes Athos".

It was Sanchez. Sanchez was not announced until after 4 PM. I am sure that the Indians talked about Yates but they thought they had Sanchez right up to 4 PM.

I must have missed the report on Sanchez, haven’t heard it.
I remember not too long before deadline we faced the Blue Jays and Sanchez was starting. He had an ERA of well over 6, and announcers were talking about how his stuff wasn’t there anymore.
He goes out and pitched really well against us, we won like 2-1.
Might have caught teams eye.
He has only allowed 1 earned run in his two Astros starts.
But I’m still glad we didn’t get him.

Carlos Santana said he hasn't seen a pitcher he can't hit!
Boom, solo shot.

Corey Kluber (arm) threw four innings of one-run ball on Tuesday with Double-A Akron.
Kluber scattered two hits and a walk while striking out six batters in the 60-pitch outing against the Double-A affiliate of the Yankees. The ace right-hander now has two minor league rehab starts under his belt and could return to the Indians' starting rotation after one more. He's been sidelined since the beginning of May with a fractured right ulna.
