I agree with UncleD. He's smart, and he's a jerk, and he knows how to keep his body in shape, and I expect a long solid career and he will make enemies all along the way. Hardly the first really obnoxious sports star

Somebody should come up with an all obnoxious team, all time.

here are some candidates: Roger Clemens Ty Cobb

Agree with all of it. He will be and already is a superstar. His policy of 1 year mega deals though will prevent that from being with most teams.

Early start today. 6 pm eastern. And game is moving quickly so far. Already heading into bottom of 2nd.

0-0

Looks like the good Carrasco has shown up.

Carrasco got kicked in the side of the foot covering 1st base. It didn't look serious, but apparently bothered him enough that he couldn't come out for 5th inning.

Neil Ramirez comes in, and gives up a homer to 1st batter he sees.

1-0 bad guys

Carrasco must have banged his knee when he took a spill, cause official word is he left with knee discomfort.

Ramirez was what we have come to expect. He gave up 3 earned in the 5th, after 4 shutout innings by Carrasco.

3-0 bad guys. Btm 5th

Oscar Mercado led off the game with a solo homer tonight for the Clip Show.

Well, the 6-16 Marlins came into our house and beat us. 3-1

Hard to feel good about this team they built this offseason.

Mercado went 4-5 today with a double, a homer, 3 RBI, and 3 runs.

This team needs a spark. I keep wondering if he might be it.

He certainly deserves a shot. The current lineup continues to underwhelm. But there's nothing Mercado can do about the weakest hitter in the lineup, who of all people continues to be Jose Ramirez. Regrettably Naquin has again ceased doing much. Bauers is OK, no more. Allen has had a couple recent hits. Martin is OK, maybe a little more. The whole OF is about what we could expected

Why is Bauers OK but Naquin not? Naquin had only RBI on a hit last night and hitting like 20 points higher on season.

Because Naquin never walks and over the past week or two he's been worse. And he's older by about 5 years and not making any notable progress. Bauers may well turn out to be just as below average as Naquin, but I'll know that in a couple years. At this point in their careers, neither is anywhere near as good as a big league outfielder should be.
