this doesn't sound quite definitive yet:

The club is holding its collective breath that it won’t have to start the season without All-Star third baseman Jose Ramirez, who was carted off the field with a left knee contusion in the third inning of Sunday's game against the White Sox after fouling a pitch off the inside of his left knee. He is currently being taken for X-rays.

Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the X-ray on the injured leg of Indians' infielder Jose Ramirez showed no signs of a broken bone.

It's still unclear how much time, if any, Ramirez will stand to miss, but it sounds like he was able to dodge a bullet on this one. Expect another update from the Indians shortly.

Watching tonights game, Stamets witha grand slam and Naquin an RBI double. Tribe up 5-0 in Arlington.

Their on field reporter just told a funny story. She once made a bet with Mike Napoli on an NBA basketball game. She won, and as part of the bet she got to choose Napoli's walk up songs for the next game. She chose, "Man I Feel Like A Woman" by Shania Twain.

She said he really stunk that night, "struck out like 8 times", was her exact words. I wanted to tell her not to beat herself up. Had nothing to do with her song. That was a normal night if game went into extra innings. ;)

Karinchak has been on my watch list for a couple summers. I highlighted some of his work last year when he got to Akron but was disappointed by his first several outings this spring: his command is his area of struggle. I think Karinhcak, Henry Martinez and Nick Sandlin all can make their way to the Tribe bullpen this summer -- unless this continue to insist on retaining the core of the mediocre crew they used last year.

Keep an eye on this guy Civ!

Apparently Lou just wanted to talk to Civ, but for anybody else that cares. Karinchak had a 1.29 ERA in 42 games last year, across 3 levels! Low A, High A, and AA.

He was 14-14 in save oppurtunities. And had 81 K in 48 innings while only allowing 29 hits.

This guy is on everyones radar now. And judging how he played across 3 levels last year he seems to be on a fast track too.

He just needs to improve his control. 36 walks last year in those 48 innings.

Frankie will be back very soon. Great!
Ramirez may be back opening day. Great! Now make you hit like you did the first 80%of the season Jose!
Kipnis may not be back for awhile. No big deal.
Zimmer may be ready for a rehab assignment before estimated June. By the time that's over we'll know better how much we need him based on the performances of lots of questionable guys in the OF.
Salazar may be back. Or may not.

In the BA chat last winter, their reporter thought that Karinchak, Martinez, Sandlin and Dominic Siri could all get to the majors in 2019; and suggested that Aaron Civale, although he's always been a starter, could likewise be a 2019 Indians reliever.
And BA projects the Indians closer in 2022 or 23, I forget which, to be Sam Hentges.

We'll see. For now, Karinchak's command is not reliable enough to close.
