Never would have pitched to Ohtani there. I don’t know what Tito is thinking some times. Had 1st base open. Throw 4 pitches in on his hands in case he bites but wouldn’t have given him anything else.

Bieber is still young with some learning (with no Trout in lineup no way I give Ohtani anything to hit, especially with RISP) to do but I really like this guy. And also like the fact he can give us another righty in pen or long man in playoffs. Both are needed.

Just think how nice it is that Bieber is our 5th starter not Tomlin. Angels have not hit a single homer in 5 innings. A normal Tomlin game would have seen 2 long balls by now, assuming he had somehow made through 5 innings.

One thing that occurred to me about Bieber (after a couple good plays) is that in the big leagues he has fielders who can really make plays.

So his style of pitching to contact might actually play up better in the BIGS.
