You know, TFIR, you aren't the first one to say that lately. Uncle Dennis said something similar not long ago too. But I am not so sure of that.

Keep in mind, Allen and Miller make 25 million combined this year. Both gone at years end?

Brantley hits free agency at years end too. He makes 11 mill.

Encarnacion makes 20 million, and will be off books by the time Lindor hits free agency.

Kipnis makes, what, like 14 or 15 mill? And will be off books by the time Frankie hits free agency.

Frankie is one of those dudes that is special. A franchise guy. I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that they let him go. I think they make a serious run at keeping him, very long term.

Matter of fact, wouldn't shock me to see them clear some of these contracts above and make a run at locking him and Jose both up.

Organization is good at developing pitchers. Very good. But hitters, not so much.. I think we will see our good arms allowed to walk, or even traded. (ala, Sabathia, Lee, etc) But they try to keep Frankie and Jose.

It would be wonderful to keep that pair. They are going to have fabulous careers, considering what they've accomplished already. We are certainly stockpiling SS talent in the minors but getting anyone as good as these guys is like finding one those needles, let alone two of them, in one of those haystacks.

Well, the great thing about drafting shortstops is you can always move them. They're usually best, or one of best, athletes on team.

which is why I'm never of a fan of drafting 2nd basemen, who obviously dont't heave the greatest range or strongest arms.

Cody Allen ties Bob Wickman for club all time saves leader.

But he’ll never be as sexxxy.

the 3 man bullpen works well enough with a strong rotation.

It provides leverage in talks really. We don't have to rush into anything.

As we know, we are blowing out the division while we can still play far better than the mediocrity we've shown so far.

In addition to needing relief pitching it also feels like our hitting still has another gear. Perhaps one hitter (like Jay Bruce did for us last year) might boost the lineup just enough.

Sure hope they do something. They won't be playing AL Central teams in October. Don't peak to early. Last year streak was amazing but it didn't help when they choked in the playoffs.

Make a move or two.

There is no doubt they will and we might even be surprised at how big it is.

They definitely get their window...in their market. They've proven that at the deadline the last 2 years.

Great effort by Bauer to win this game. Getting into the 8th, Oliver Perez gets a lefty, then Cody in the 9th.

But would be remiss not to mention a great throw getting a runner trying to steal at 3B in the 8th - the key play in the game was a throwout by Roberto Perez. Killed the rally.

Merrifield opened the inning with a double with the Tribe leading, 3-2. After Rosell Herrera flied out to left, Merrifield, for some reason, tried to steal third. Catcher Roberto Perez hung him out to dry with a strong throw to Jose Ramirez for the second out.

After Salvador Perez singled - shorFrancisco Lindor knocked it down on the outfield grass so Merrifield may or may not have scored - lefty Oliver Perez relieved and struck out Lucas Duda.

Perez was excited about the play.

"I could tell Merrifield wanted to steal," said Perez. "Bauer was throwing a lot of breaking balls, so I called a fastball up and in."

Bauer's fastball put Perez in a perfect position to make a good throw to third.

"I thought that was the game right there," said Perez. "That's on Bauer."

So at least Bauer had something to smile about.

Interested me that he sensed Merrifield was going to go since it really wasn't a smart move by Merrifield. Then to call a fastball up and in on the right pitch and totally nail Merrifield. :o

Lot more to catching than what stats provide. Handling pitchers and calling the game makes Perez a lot more valuable than fans realize.

Don't think the "Dump Perez for Mejia" cry has any chance this year.
