this time Melky's double doesn't score a run but after Perez hit by a pitch, bases are loaded with one out.

Leonys Martin, who seems to be hitting about .500 against the Indians, homers to make it 6-2. Corey has thrown 72 pitches in 6 innings. He has a good chance to go the distance. Which will be handy with Allen out; Ramirez probably unavailable; and the rest of the crew incredibly unreliable.

[OK Carlos Perez has been fine so far, but how long can that last?]

1-2-3 7th. He's at 88 pitches.

Roberto Perez left the game after he was hit by a pitch. Not sure who'd they call up: neither Haase nor Mejia is hitting particularly well, and they would not either to pend most of his time sitting on the major league bench. No veteran catchers in the organization and those 2 are both on the 40 man roster so one would get the call. Mejia has been hitting much better than Haase of late, although also spending a lot o his time in the outfield.

Melky continues his solid day with an rbi single. The lead is beginning to look safe even if Corey needs to exit after 8. If we score say, four more runs, we can get Tomlin in there for his first work in 10 days.

Gomes with his 8th homer [hadn't noticed he had been so prolific] makes the margin 7. Josh might want to start limbering up.
Gonzalez follows with another double. I think they chose the right utility infielder. [although I see Gio had 5 hits over the last games. Good for him. I liked him and still do.]

Gomer hits a 2 run HR! Now 9-2 top of 8th.

Nice job working of a two on none out [one was safe on an error] in the 8th. 106 pitches should be enough for the day.

No more scoring in the Tribe 9th. We have Marshall, Olson as well as Tomlin who haven't pitched in about a week. Cabrera leads off, the next two are switch hitters. Not likely it will be Olson. Marshall has a return ticket to Columbus on Tuesday; they could give him a farewell inning.
Heart of the order will tax Tomlin's ability to keep the ball in the park, but "Tiger Stadium" is huge, and a couple homers won't hurt the lead too badly, so I'm guessing it's Tomlin Time.

Zack Meisel @ZackMeisel

Corey Kluber:

-1.99 ERA this season
-168 consecutive batters faced without issuing a walk
-26 consecutive starts allowing 3 ER or fewer
-Allowed two runs in eight innings today and his ERA went *up*

Jordan Bastian @MLBastian

Most consecutive starts in Indians history with no walks:

7: Dick Donovan, 1963
6: Corey Kluber, 2018
6: Paul Byrd, 2007
6: Addie Joss, 1908

Kluber has now gone 43.1 straight innings without a walk. The walk-free streak spans 168 batters.

Yep. It's a classic matchup of Tomlin vs. Miguel and he goes down swinging on three pitches:

Candalerio takes a called 3rd strike. Tomlin on a roll

V Mart grounds out and Tomlin earns the save. Well, maybe not quite, but he pitched just fine and Corey earns win No. 10.

Kipnis has already went to Tito and said "I'm good for tomorrow!" Tito says, that's OK Kip, let's not rush it, take another day.
