So I checked up on Shaw and see that he took a loss on Saturday, giving up 3 runs in 1/3 inning, with his ERA ballooning to 6.59 for the Rockies. That was the 7th homer he's allowed in 29 innings. [5 homers allowed total in 2017, 8 each of the previous two seasons]. First time he's allowed more hits than innings since 2012. WHIP 1.60, always in the 1.2 vicinity for the Indians.
Of course part of the problem is pitching in Denver. His home ERA is 9.69 but on the road he's still 4.02, allowed 3 of the homers and WHIP 1.40
He's probably been overused. For the Indians he pitched plenty, always between 70 and 80 games. Rockies have put him out there more than half of their games, 32 appearances in 59 games.

McKenzie to the pen to finish out this season?

I don't understand, TFIR. First you say you don't want to mess with Plutko or Bieber by letting them pitch out of the pen this year, even though there isn't room for both of them in rotation. But then you turn around and say move McKenzie to the pen. A starter who has not pitched 1 inning of AA ball and has a higher ceiling that both Plutko and Bieber, and hasn't pitched at all this year due to injury.
McKenzie is about to come off DL. Send him to Akron and leave him there. He has work to get in.
I put either Plutko or Bieber at 5th starter, and the other I put in the pen temporarily to help us right now.
A lot of great starters began their career working out of the pen. Won't hurt the guy. He can start fresh as a SP again next spring. And I'm sure either one would jump at the chance to get to stick to the major league roster now this year.

HB - I'm desperate ...haha.
As well, coming off the arm issue perhaps a time to start him out in relief and see what happens. They won't.

2 RBI single by Chisenhall in his first at bat. I wish this guy could stay healthy.

Nice to see a nice setup job in the 8th by N Ramirez. Huge to have Kluber go 7 and just have to handle the 8th and hand it off to Cody.
In the post game Tito talked about Ramirez getting better "depth" on his breaking pitch today.
The guy throws some serious heat up there so maybe with a little confidence he can be a keeper.

Maybe all these college arms we drafted might be this year's bullpen. Can they do worse.

No kidding, right before game started tonight Jensen Lewis said he talked to Tribe's director of scouting and he said that one of the pitchers they drafted yesterday, Sandlin I think, he said he will be on fast track and might help big league club by year end.
I wouldn't bet on it.

Other reports put Sandlin on the fast track, too, but this year seems pretty optimistic. Cody took about a year and a few months.

It's about time for Carrasco to pitch a good game. His overall ERA is now 4.50 although a good WHIP of 1.18. Last seven games ERA 6.37 WHIP 1.46.
We have Bieber and Plutko ready willing and able to fill in the rotation behind Kluber Bauer and Clevinger.

Carrasco isn't pitching well, 6 hits in 3 innings, but he's limited the damage to 1 run. Indians also have had chances, 4 on base in 2 innings, but no scoring.
With 1 out in the 5th, Davis singles, steals second, Lindor walks. Now Brantley and Ramirez with chances to put us on the board.
At Bat announces on a 2-2 pitch: "In Play, Run[s]" whit turns out to be a single to center with Lindor moving to 3rd.
Ramirez next
Jeffers with 0.60 ERA in to relieve.
JRam drills his 19th double and we take the lead.
EE works a walk to fill the bases.
Jeffers not at his best today: walks Alonso on five pitches to force in a run.

Jason is over 200 for a change, but he whiffs with the bases loaded. Gomes with a chance to blow it open

Gomes wehiffs also, 2 run lead not enough for our bullpen.
