I honestly do not see why they felt the need to get Zimmer back up so quick. He needs work. Way too many holes in his swing.

Agree 100 times over HB.

I could see last year why they needed him. Even being an unfinished product his tools (defense, baserunning) made him keepable.

But what happened to the selectivity he showed in the minors?

With Greg Allen doing so well, Melky now on the team making a glut at outfield, we can afford to give him more time. He has options. Send him down.

Wow, shut down all game and EE hits his 2nd bomb of the game (3 run homer) to give tribe 4-3 lead.

EE in the midst of his annual thaw out. Heatin' up

7th inning yikes. Tito leaves Clevinger in (bullpen?) and he gives up tying run to Dozier. Ok, Dozier is a homer hitter but...

Then Olson comes in and gives up a solo shot.

Down 5-4

Brantley ties it up again.

But I'm afraid our relievers have to pitch again. Who would you call on ? Otero? Ugh. McAllister? Ugh. Tomlin? Ugh. Already used Olson, Ramirez and Perez.

Is Marshall on the team today? I see Ben Taylor and Matt Belisle worked for Columbus so I guess we're not going to see them.

Does anyone think that firing Jason Bere may have been a mistake? Maybe he was pissed he didn't get the pitching coaches job.

I think it's simple personally.

Even WITH Shaw last year this team went out and got Joe Smith.

So their top 4 were Allen, Miller, Shaw and Smith.

This year only Cody Allen of those 4 remains with Miller part time at best.

None of the others has stepped up period.

So I just say look at Miller, Allen, Shaw and Smith and what we have now. That's the difference. Personnel. Lack of.

The front office gambled and lost letting Shaw and Smith go and Miller's injury made it that much worse.

Met Jason Bere at ST in Winter Haven. Not too many players are comfortable chit chatting with fans. Jason Bere was just the opposite. One of my favorite "meets" at ST.

Can't believe Atchison still has a job.

The fact that none among Goody, Otero or McAllister was placed on the post-season roster last year tells you what Tito thought about them. And that surprised me that the front office thought they could be relied on this year in enhanced roles. Perhaps they thought Salazar would fit into the pen, which could have worked out if he could pitch.

Now we have a surplus of starters with Bieber and Plutko. Someone needs to be converted to the 'pen. Carrasco? Clevinger?

No way at all civ that they do that. As irritating as this is, in the long run those guys as starters are so much more valuable. Clevinger has really matured into a reliable starter - they won't mess with it.

Agree on the front office deciding to see if those guys could pitch in enhanced roles. Their numbers looked good last year but they were in very low leverage roles. Again I add the Miller situation was not foreseen and has greatly complicated all of this.

Unless they have some hard throwing minor leaguers that might thrive in relief I believe a trade is the only way. A large trade with good prospects going out.

They know they are in their window and have shown in the past they will go big. I believe they will. For example a team like SD (Yates, Stammen, Hand) or Tampa (Alvarado, Roe even Yarbrough) have some really good relievers and they are way out of it.

Just 2 examples and lots of guys on just those 2. This is why teams feel they can fix the bullpen on the fly if needed. Well....it's time. Not soon enough for us but the reality is from now on their search intensifies.

Get 2 guys to replace Shaw/Smith and get Miller back and now we'd be talking!
