I wouldn't DFA McAllister.
Look, from what I have heard from ex players and managers bullpen roles can be tricky. I guess we all know that now.
Otero, McAllister, Goody (even Olson) - they were all effective last year in their roles. But their roles were low leverage as Allen, Miller and yes SHAW took on the higher stress and leverage situations.
So what we need is a VERY good reliever (or 2 of course) to bump those guys back down to their former roles. They were fine there.
To defend the front office (and Tito) for a second - they probably wanted to see who could step up to higher roles before they went out on a limb and acquired someone. They did that - oh - and none of them did. In addition Miller hasn't been healthy/effective so it made it all the worse.
That said the front office also knew we had a ton of games vs Twins, Chisox, Detroit, Kansas City which gave us a buffer.
And indeed it is working out that way.
So I give them some time. They are doubtless every bit as stressed about it as the fans are. But certainly no one wants them to rush and panic and do something dumb when it's realistically unnecessary at this point.
Super frustrating yes. Necessary right now - no.
