Bauer so far is looking like he is really taking the next step in his development. Building on last year's 2nd half is very promising.

I thought maybe Bauer would get CG and questioned them bringing in Cody, but tv guys said Cody had not pitched in 4 days.

All we need is complete games from two starters each time through the rotation, 8 from the other two, and Tomlin and rest of the bullpen guys can screw up the 5th.

I note that our 4 starting pitchers have ERAs of: 2.34, 2.59, 2.70 and 3.65
Have Won Loss records of 6-2, 5-2, 3-3, and 3-0. Composite: 17-7.
Tomlin and the Pen are a combined 4-14.

I believe I saw that the bullpen is 1-7 with 1 save in this difficult spell

in their past 21 games, the Indians have averaged 6.2 runs per contest. That has secured an 8-13 record, a reflection of a bruised and battered bullpen that has posted a 9.16 ERA during that stretch. Three weeks ago, the Indians ranked fourth in the majors in bullpen ERA. Last season, the Indians ranked first.

Now, they rank dead last.

Well, I wanted to see more of Neil Ramirez. I've seen it. Now I've seen enough. Next.

Great, now they are bringing Cody Allen in in the 8th for a 5 out save.

If this works it will be the first time.

By the way, Miller was not available due to back problems.

They need to leave him on DL and let him get right. He's a shell of himself out there right now anyway.

Kudos to Cody for stepping up without Andrew. Miller will pay him back.

What is it 22 straight games that Kluber has allowed 3 runs or less? Incredible. His bad days are still good enough.

I heard the announcers say that Kluber passed Sonny Siebert's club record of 21 straight.

He has also won 69 games in a row in which the team has given him at least 4 runs of support. Which to me is incredible. That has to be over, what, 4 years or so? Not one clunker in 4 years in a game in which the team scored 4 or more. That's crazy.

Indians purchased the contract of OF Melky Cabrera from Triple-A Columbus.

The veteran outfielder played in 10 games at Triple-A Columbus, hitting .286/.286/.381 with no homers and four RBI. He's in the lineup on Sunday against the Astros, batting sixth and playing right field. May 20 - 5:01 PM

Ogando dropped from the 40 man.

Marshall to Columbus and....

Adam Plutko - S - Indians
Adam Plutko will be recalled from Triple-A Columbus to start for the Indians on Wednesday against the Cubs in Chicago.

He'll get the first crack at filling the open rotation spot that was vacated by Josh Tomlin's demotion to the bullpen. Plutko, 26, allowed three runs over 7 1/3 innings in his lone spot start with the Indians this season.

Josh Tomlin - S - Indians
Indians' manager Terry Francona said Sunday that struggling right-hander Josh Tomlin will work out of the bullpen for now.

Tomlin owns a cringe-inducing 7.84 ERA and 1.68 WHIP through 31 innings in seven appearances (six starts) this season, so this move is certainly warranted. Adam Plutko will be recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday to start in Tomlin's place.
