No lead is safe with this bullpen. Not a single reliever, other than Allen is reliable.
Otero was not good enough to make the post season roster, had a terrible spring and a terrible six weeks. He should go.
McAllister was not good enough to make the post season roster. Has never been better than about a 4th reliever. Has been terrible all season. He should go.
Miller is totally messed up. Olson is off and on. Marshall and Ramirez haven't been around long enough to establish anything.
Taylor wasn't terribly bad, he deserves another try. Belisle and Beliveau probably don't.
Goody wasn't good enough to make the post season roster. Had not pitched well this season. Now we're deprived of his presence.
Jordan Milbrath has not been especially effective in Akron and worse in Columbus.
Henry Martinez has done well in Akron. James Karinchak has done well at both Class A levels.
That's the bullpen present and future, until they start making trades.
Oh, I forgot, Danny Salazar should be ready by August, although I'm not sure which August.

Olson may not be as good as last year but he deserves going more than 1 or 2 batters when we look at the alternatives available.

Anyone who can get a couple outs deserves some more opportunity. That's a limited group.

Miller's fastball was 92-93 last night.
I'm concerned.
I'd be trying to get the beard signed long term. Could you imagine the mess next year if Allen walked?
But please just use him in the 9th.
Neil Ramirez looked very good last night! Fastball at 95 and hitting spots. Nice tight slider he threw for strikes. I'm sold. Want to see more. Keep McCallister's ass in the pen.

Well, I just saw that we have resigned Matt Belisle to a minor league deal. Our problems are solved.

The average speed of Major League fastball has been increasing at a rapid rate. If you throw 91-93 you are considered a soft tosser. Bullpens throughout the league are loading up on guys that can get it up there in the 95-100 range.
Miller can't be effective throwing the puss he's been serving up.

are any relievers besides Allen at 95+? Sometimes McAllister throws hard but with no command.

They certainly a lot more afternoon games now I never know they're happening until they're done. Apparently it worked out well:
DETROIT -- There was a moment Wednesday when it looked like the Tigers might break through against Trevor Bauer, and the Indians might need to get their laboring bullpen loose. Bauer took matters into his own hands and made sure the threat was fleeting.
With two runners aboard in the sixth, Bauer fired a backdoor two-seamer to Pete Kozma, who watched the pitch pop into catcher Roberto Perez's glove over the outside corner for an inning-ending strikeout. From there, Bauer continued to cruise, leading Cleveland to a 6-0 victory in the finale of the three-game set at Comerica Park.
View Full Game Coverage
In the previous two games, the Indians' bullpen relinquished late runs -- three in the eighth on Monday and five in the seventh on Tuesday -- to help Detroit to a pair of wins. On Wednesday, Bauer logged eight shutout innings, piled up 10 strikeouts, issued no walks and scattered four hits to help avoid another mishap.
With the win, Bauer improved to 3-3 with a 2.59 ERA on the season for the Tribe.
Bauer received ample support from the Indians' lineup, which came into the afternoon averaging 6.4 runs across the previous 20 games. That type of output continued against Tigers lefty Ryan Carpenter, who struggled to miss Cleveland's bats. The Tribe made contact on 37 of 41 swings against Carpenter, who recorded no strikeouts and surrendered six runs (five earned) in his five frames.
The Indians struck for two runs in the first, connected for three consecutive RBI hits in the fourth and enjoyed a leadoff home run from Michael Brantley in the fifth inning. That was more than enough for Bauer, who did his best to remove Cleveland's struggling bullpen from the equation with an efficient outing.

Lucky for Trevor that they held the Tigers off in the 9th, Of course, Tito went to his closer to hold the 6 run lead. Makes sense; otherwise he would've had to bring Cody in later in the inning with a much smaller margin of success.
Can someone count up the losses registered by the bullpen in past three weeks; I lost count when I tried.

and Kipnis batting 8th vs the lefty. produced a run with a double off the lefty, who truth to tell is a 27 year old rookie making his first major league start.

I had to DVR game today and watching it now. We have to find a spot for Gonzalez. This kid plays well every opportunity he gets. Fantastic diving play on a ball down 3rd base line early in game to save a double. RBI single his second time up. And scored from first on Kip's double next at bat. He is ready. And great job by Tribe front office recognizing they had to keep him instead of Urshela.
