Luckily no one has posted in this folder. We did rally nicely yesterday but not enough arms in the bullpen did us in again, although this time Cody allowed the winner to score.
Today was bizarre. Bauer no=hits the Yankees for 4 innings. Then they score 4 on one single! and 3 walks and 2 Lindor errors on the same play.
Zimmer ran into a wall again, but Tito thinks he'll be ok.
Ben Taylor was not awful in relief, 1run in 2 innings, 3 strikeouts. that's about all we can hope for

Dear Brad Zimmer - please do not become Grady Sizemore.
Bauer is an amazing talent and at 27 his potential seems to be still unfolding.

If you like offense we had the 13-11 game. If you like pitching you've got today's: after 6 innings, the two teams have totaled one hit. Yankees' kid on the mound for his first major league start leaves with a 6 inning no hitter. Now their rather invicible bullpen takes the stage. Clevinger with an efficient 69-pitch 6-inning one hitter but pretty much no bullpen available to back him up. Each started whiffed 9 and walked 2 in 6 IP

Zimmer not yet on the DL after his crash-landing. Greg Allen in CF today and Ben Taylor sent down. I guess he might actually have options available, so expect him to be a regular on the I-71 shuttle.

7 in the books, still 1 hit total. Clev with 10K. I must have read the pitch total wrong before, he's at 100 now. Do we call to the fire-brigade? Who would you bring in in the 8th???? Otero 4.40? Marshall 2/2 shutout innings to date? Olson 7/.15? McAllister 9.00? I think that's all the choices before Allen; we're one-man short in the pen today with Taylor down

Alonso singles. No no-hitter. Still no score.

Why did they even put Allen out there in the 9th? It was clear in the 8th he didn't have "it".

Their options were few. And Cody hasn't had it for awhile either.
At this point the bullpen is minus Miller and Shaw both from last year. Makes a big difference.

I wouldn't say Allen hasn't had it. He had zero earned runs when Miller got hurt. We have a manager that keeps trotting him out there in the 8th even though he gets shelled every. time.
Even with Miller this bullpen needs another dependable arm. They need to pull off a trade soon. We wait till trade deadline we may not be in 1st anymore. And Miller and Allen will be overworked and dead armed when we need them late.

116 pitches for Clevinger.
32 pitches for Allen to get 2 outs.
Tito and Willis better figure it out before they burn them out.

I have said this before and I am sure I will say it again. Cody does not do too well when its not a save situation.
On the other hand who could we trot out there?

The Indians have allowed 151 runs this year. 64 of them have come in the 7th inning or later (42.3%)

There is NO ONE in the pen besides Miller and Allen who you want to see in a close game. Or maybe in any game. Biggest offseason mistake was not doing ANYTHING about filling the gaps left by Shaw and Smith. If they hoped that Goody and Olson would repeat surprising seasons they were being over optimistic. If they expected Otero and McAllister to regain their previous form instead of continue to regress they were Pollyanas. They had NO ONE coming up from AAA with bullpen experience. Maybe they anticipated Salazar would unusually spend the winter getting in shape: his natural ability could be well used in the pen, if he were just able to pitch
They cannot be a winning team unless or until they trade talent for bullpen talent. Willi Castro or Chang; one of our catchers; someone they don't want to deal they NEED to deal.
