Goody hurt his elbow. We honestly have no relievers on our 40 man roster to bring up to replace him. The guys on options are all starters or on the DL. Unless Plutko is good enough in the 2nd game they decide to keep him around, but he's never pitched relief and is not a hard thrower. If Danny Salazar were ever able to return he could fit in the pen. But that apparently is not coming soon.

So after Zimmer struck out to end the 7th I thought I'd check his stats. I discovered first that the 2 runs he drove in in the 7-run inning were the 4th and 5th of the season. He's hitting better vs lefties than righties. Projecting his month this year to a roughly equal number of games as he played in 2017 by multiplying this year's totals by 4:

2017 299AB 41R 72H 39 RBI 115TB 152B 2-3B 8HR 26BB 99K 18SB 1 CS 241/307.385/692
2018 344AB 44R 76H 20 RBI 104TB 162B 0-3B 4HR 16BB 140K 16SB 4CS 224/257/305/562

In summary: many fewer walks, many more strikeouts, fewer extra base hits. Good thing he can play center field Very well.
But it also means that Greg Allen deserves equal opportunity to prove that he can hit better while playing as fine a center field.

McAllister gives up another run, nothing physically wrong with him, just can't the ball where he wants.

Lindor 2nd homer of game returns us to 1 run behind. Bottom of the 8th.

It sure is great to have a rookie making his first start in the second game with a worn out bullpen behind him. We're certainly ready for a weekend in New York.

OK, it's apparently going to end. Current LH relief ace Tyler Olson gives up a grand slam in the 11th, so it's 13-9. This thing will end in time for a 2nd game, if they insist on playing it, starting around 8:30. This is called a getaway disaster day. [OR they will determine that it could rain later and postpone it which would make mucho sense.]

What a great, encouraging outing by Plutko to give us some rotation depth.

Oh, and don't worry Adam about those hits allowed to Solarte. Somehow that guy...

He absolutely face plants in the first game, get stitches and stays in game BEFORE that grand slam.

Then continues to rake - 8 out of 10 for the day with 2 homers, and other goodies. Just wow - fortunate to get a split today.

Was in the car for a lot of the first game - listened to Hamilton and he talked a lot about the great job Shapiro and Atkins have done rebuilding this franchise as the vets left. Some good young talent (Hernandez, Gouriel) and good (Solarte) trades.

"(Trevor) Bauer told me that after the first inning and we were both laughing because that's generally his pitch count," Plutko said.

"He was a little jealous when Tito told me I had 225."

Tomlin against the punch and judy hitters of the Yankees. A good matchup. Guys in the projected NY lineup are a collective 2-21 vs Josh. [never faced Judge or Stanton]
CC vs the project Indians lineup 25-92. Lindor and Ramirez have been 9-17.
Looks an easy win for the Tribe.
