Now we have a world series between two teams I couldn't care less about. I usually want the AL to win so I suppose I'm for the Astros? Plus my sister lives in the Bay area and is a Giants fan so she hates the Dodgers, and I want her to be happy.

We can knock the cobwebs off this folder, Indians spring training action has begun!!
I mentioned Alonso's first AB in other folder. Upton's first AB was a strikeout where he flailed at ball haplessly.

Reds beat the good guys 6-4.
Eric Stamets had a solo homer. And Richie Shaffer added a 2 run triple.
Chief Wahoo is currently still on the sleeve of the uni.

This is a post from J.R. about 2017 Spring Training.
I thought it was bad when the Tigers started charging an extra 5 bucks to watch the home team's batting practice at Lakeland, but this is amazing:
The Pirates charge FIFTY BUCKS for this:
BP Experience info:
• Game tickets are required to watch Pirates Batting Practice (does not include visiting team batting practice).
• BP Experience ticket holders will be admitted before the general public at 10am for day games and 3pm for night games to watch Pirates batting practice.
• BP Experience tickets must be purchased in advance (will not be available day of game).
• In order to be admitted onto the field to watch batting practice, ticket holder must be 16 years of age or older.
I just received an e-mail from Goodyear Park announcing the 2018 schedule and Fan Experiences.
90 minute on-field training session at the practice facility. Hit balls, field grounders, shag flies. $130
60 minutes post-game meet and greet with two players and a member of the broadcast team. $105
Watch Indians pre-game batting practice at the practice facility on the track behind the cage. $80
Unbelievable.
Makes me pine for the good old days at Winter Haven where you didn't have to pay to talk to players or watch batting practice.

Just remember every dollar you pay them supports long-term deal for Lindor

Think Goodyear gets the money, not the Indians.

In that guess, the prices are totally unfair.

Skinny Bobby Bradley in the Tribe infield today with Erik G at 2nd, Gio trying out as a utility man at SS, Ricky Shaffer at 3rd; the OF is Almonte, Allen and Chisenhall with Zimmer as the DH. Perez behind the plate. Tomlin getting the start.

civ - watching it on STO. It's the Milwaukee broadcast. I guess that's one way to increase your ST schedule is to pick up the opposing team broadcast for some of them

Wow Bobby Bradley tags one to right center off the wall. 400 foot double

Ooo Bradley with an RBI single to left this time. Nice!
Edit - next time up he smoked a ball to 1B but retired.
Mejia smokes an outside pitch that stayed up - hooked it over LF wall.

According to the Brewer announcers Erik Gonzalez just made the highlight play of the day (at 2B)
Ball was smoked up the middle and caught it backhanded just off the ground (in the air) and throws from the ground to 1B to double up the runner.

I'd like to see Erik getting some work in LF; I think he played a bit in the outfield in AAA, another option for a RH bat out there.
I note that SS Yu-Cheng Chang is working mostly at 3rd, not surprising since he'll not replace Lindor. I'd like to see him working in the outfield too, since he's a RH hitter with very good power.

Jason Kipnis clobbered two homers and drove in four runs in a 16-8 rout over the A's on Tuesday in the Cactus League.
Kipnis is off to a red-hot start in the Cactus League this spring, already with three home runs. It's obviously a very small sample size, but it's also nice to see after his up-and-down 2017 campaign.
Keep an eye on Kipnis for a potential bounceback in 2018.

I guess Richie Shaffer is not considered a prospect although he hit 30 homers last year for Columbus; He's 4-5 with 2 homers and 9 RBI in his first week in Goodyear. He's 26, he's right-handed and he plays all the corner positions. Of course he has downsides, like he has 50 strikeouts in 122 major league at bats. And maybe his defense is awful? but a team that could use a right-handed bat for 1st and left field, he could be helpful.
