I think it's indisputable that Detroit has a better offensive team down the stretch than we do.

Leyland is a damn good manager and will be a big factor in pushing the Tigers down the stretch. They had our number last series, lets hope we get some help here and their and don't piss in our own faces when we get the chance in those six games like we did last time.
Toss out our 6 games against Detroit still to be played and we have 22 remaining games while Detroit has 19.
If we can just go 4-2 against Detroit, we have those 22 games to make up a 3 1/2 game deficit. Very realistic.
Of course the order of the events are jumbled since we end the season with three at Detroit.
But mathematically our current 5 1/2 game deficit can easily melt away before the end of the season.
And on that note, a 6 game winning streak from here would be very nice.....

And additionally I will do what I can when the Tigers play their four games in Oakland on the 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th. No firm plans yet, but tix will be a dime a dozen and I'll likely make a minimum of two of the games as a rabid A's fan those days. I'm a pretty good community organizer/fan instigator so will be doing my best to get into the heads of Tiger players from seats I will target for pre-game warm ups and the game time bullpen.
All legal and with social conscience, of course.
At least it's a little something.....and keep it under your hat.

it's all about these next 6 games Cali. We have to get hot and RIGHT NOW. We won't be making up any ground on a tough 10 game road trip that follows....

Not good news:
Report: Carlos Carrasco slated for Tommy John surgery
Craig Calcaterra
Sep 2, 2011, 3:12 PM EDT
Indians starter Carlos Carrasco hasn’t pitched since August 3 due to elbow inflammation. But Nick Collias of MLBTR just passed along a report from Venezuelan newspaper Líder de Deportes which suggests that it’s worse than that. It’s kind of hearsay, but a friend of Carrasco’s tells reporter Carlos Alberto Zambrano that TJ surgery is in the works:
“Carlos called me yesterday and told me that it seems they’re going to perform Tommy John [surgery] on him.”
Carrasco, 24, has a 4.55 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 85/40 K/BB ratio over 21 starts this season. He also has a suspension hanging over his head for throwing at Billy Butler on July 29, but if this news is accurate that’s looking like it won’t be served until 2013 at the earliest.

I choose to hope the 2011 injuries will make for a better Cinderella story in October.

We've won 6 of our last 8 games, but only picked up .5 games on the Tigers.

If we only won 2 of our last 8 would we have lost more than .5 games.
I don't like that kind of math.

We may not like it, but it shows how hard it is to gain any ground!

No it shows how good the Tigers are playing. The Tigers are 11-4 and the Indians are 7-8 in their last 15 games.

Right, the Tigers are playing so well that it's hard to gain any ground!

But right now they are losing, 6-1. Go Sox!
